Over 70GB for this game!! Are you serious!!!

What the heck 343!!! The game is about 77GB right now, why? Why is it that you cannot make a game and the OPTIMIZE and COMPACT!! Is your plan to take up all of the hard-drive space on our Xbox’s? No other game I own, not even MCC is that much, though that does not get away either for being near exactly 70GB, Destiny has WAY more content then Halo 5 and its only 35 GB, that’s half of Halo 5, and it has butt loads of more content in it.

Ghost of Meridian, the update that added near to nothing was like 3GB. WOW, what it taking up all that space? sound files? textures? crappy servers (not really)?

If Destiny isn’t good enough, take Halo Reach, the Halo game that has like four times the amount of content then Halo 5, and its only 3 GB it self, that’s right, halo Reach in its entirety takes up the same space as the bare-boned GoM update. I get that its a last-gen game but COME ON!! Just because we are on new consoles does not mean we have to multiply the memory size by 50!!

343, please, compact Halo 5, make it less space, optimize it, cause you clearly are not doing that right now.

Ya I’m going to have to buy another hard drive.

My friend just bought an xbox one and Halo 5 the other day and it literally took him half the day to install the updates. What a joke.

I mean, having to install a disc based game on the console is already stupid, so by making a game that takes up like a quarter of that space does not help.

They should make it optional to download the forge goodies.

Different methods of compression for images/textures, if I recall correctly, you cannot compress something and have it be lossless, so they may not be compressing the textures, but that WOULD be odd. I’d say it has more to do with models and textures for forge objects and character models etc.

Btw, servers don’t take up space on your hard drive? That doesn’t necessarily make sense. I don’t see how that would be possible lol.

It’s killing me, man. I’m gonna have to switch to a 1 TB hardrive soon.

Then you would have missing files and you wouldn’t be able to play certain maps in customs or matchmaking that had the new files.

I couldn’t think of a 3rd thing to say, but I really wanted to stab the bad connections.

Optional means you could download it if you wanted to.

I said off the bat halo 5 would be around 100gigs when all said and done… looks like I might be right lol

And you can’t even play it offline!

Welcome to the new age of gaming. Yoink you’re internet fees. This update is going to be 10gig I bet you.

I don’t see it as a big deal. Besides if you even play a few games on Xbox (plus the free games), you’ll use up that 500 gb easily (or 370ish since a large chunk is taken from the system itself). I got myself a 2 TB external (a small one so it doesn’t take up much space) for like $70 a year or two ago. I’m just now hitting 45%ish of it and I can clean out games I don’t play anymore if need be. Either way, 343 isn’t inclined to make the game smaller, there have been updates for this game monthly so it is natural that the game is larger than most games out there.

It’s okay, not big deal for me

Wants more content - Wants it to take up less space

Yeeeah.

Doom used to be several floppy disks, but the latest Beta was several GB alone! You’d think with all the new technology and faster computers they could compress it to several hundred KB!
What gives yo?!

I remember when these kind of games used to be like 1 gig to 5 gig.

Well, enjoy your “hyperrealistic blood” and hundreds of pointless weapon and armor variants I guess.

There is more to it than just content. Halo 5’s programming is more advanced, and needs more space, not to mention it’s the entire content of the game on the console. And as a matter of fact, Halo Reach is 7.3 GBs, not 3 (Over 11 with dlc).

I doubt code takes up that much space, it’s just text.

Most of the space is probably textures, animations and models.

I know of plenty old games with “terrible” models and textures that are only a few hundred megabytes, some even less.

It’s impressive to me that Reach is that small with that much content.

I don’t think it’s a problem with 343 I think it’s a problem with the gaming industry. Games are getting so much bigger and complex that they take up a -Yoink- ton of memory space. Over time games will take up even more space. Personally I don’t really mind
