I would agree in saying that Halo 4 will be successful, I am sure that most people do think the same thing.

While brand recognition has quite a lot to do with Halo’s popularity (like any other franchise), we have to remember what initially sparked that popularity. To keep fans interested and even to to win new fans, the series must maintain consistent in terms of quality.

Not really.
If you consider that COD 4 veterans are so pissed right now and throw -Yoink- at the series, Halo 4 seems to comback to it’s original feeling.
Through Campaign (New enemys, new planet, new secrets to bring back the H1 feel), through Multiplayer (Being different but keeping that unique feel, and they are trying to make the gameplay more similar to H2-H3 than to Reach’s), through SO, Forge, Theather (making improvements and innovations).

Halo 4 doesn’t look like it’s being made to appeal to Halo fans. The mutliplayer seems to be taking a CoD approach, which is a bad idea because CoD players will just leave Halo 4 for Black Ops 2 when it comes out a week after Halo 4’s release.

In the end, Halo 4 will be a game that didn’t hold any CoD players and simply pissed off the people who wanted Halo.

I’ve been playing Halo since Halo 1 came out in 2001, and Halo 4 definitely appeals to me. I can’t be the only one either.

Or it’ll be a game that is enjoyed by new gamers, gamers from other franchises, and Halo gamers alike, while setting the stage for a new Halo trilogy and will keep Halo moving with the gaming market.

You can’t act as if it will drive away all veteran fans and will be dismissed by other gamers… its quite obvious already thats false.

I have to agree that halo 4 is (in some ways) appealing to the CoD players, but to say that 343 wouldn’t make a game that appeals to the halo fans is very unlikely.

to be honest I thought some of the things that 343 is doing with halo 4 was appealing TOO MUCH to the halo fans, I mean we’ve played 3 freakin games with the same main characters (that are pretty lifeless I might add) and 343 decided to bring them back. I know some of you would likely whine about how they didn’t have master chief as the main character but I personally am sick and tired of him, its not that the master chief is boring or anything (well thats partially why) its just that I’m sick of seeing the same characters repeat over and over again. I really hope that some day we’ll either get a character that we haven’t seen as much of (arbiter) or we’ll see some really new and interesting characters instead of the same old same old.

even though I have to say that halo 4 doesn’t look much at all like the previous halo games, its worth saying that I’m kind of sick of some of the things that they keep repeating in the franchise.

Correction, 5 ex-bungie devs are working on halo 4, or at least that is what I have heard.

> Only big picture here.

Halo Reach
Success monetarily for Bungie and Microsoft.

Failure for the Halo fan-base.

Halo 4
Success monetarily for 343 and Microsoft.

TBD for the Halo fan-base.

All I got to say is what’s the difference between the Halo video games and books? They both tell a story and that’s what I’m interested in, not the multiplayer. So the more the merrier.

At least for me
