hey guys, i just recently watched the IGN walkthrough of Outcast, (one of the Castle Map Pack) and it looks incredible. There is so much detail on the map and the sky line is just amazing. Full of vibrant colours and the textures are amazing
Even if you hate halo 4, just take a look of that map!!!. No wonder halo 4 won best graphics lol.
Comment below if you believe me, and think its a master piece
It would only be a masterpiece if it doesn’t use Infinity settings. Like the user above me suggested entering a Wraith (or any vehicle for that matter) would be a death trap. Power weapons are everywhere and everyone already spawns with anti vehicle weapons. Add to that the relatively cramped quarters and you have a very unfriendly environment for vehicle gameplay.
If 343i continues to support Infinity settings in BTB I’ll probably play this map pack for a few days and then leave Halo 4 again.

All this maps shows is that 343 don’t give a [insert nasty word] for vehicle combat, just people camping in ‘cubby holes’ with PP’s and stickies. That map is crowded with predictable vehicle routes - think you’ll last long in the wraith or mantis before getting boarded?
No one would touch the hog on Ragnarok where it has 1/2 a chance it’ll be a rolling double kill here for sure.
I just wish they’ll remember to test these maps on split screen. I’m still waiting til they fix Shatter or give me some kind of refund for Crimson…
It’s very appealing visually, but I just don’t see how Wraiths OR Scorpion tanks are going to stay alive on a map with tons of hiding spots in every wall and everyone’s packing plasma pistols. The Mantis has a slightly better shot, but only because it’s a little more nimble than those other vehicles and because it can only be boarded from the back.
You do realize that all those pretty colors and unnecessary aesthetics (wiring, blue flames, etc.) will cause massive amounts of lag, right?
I’m guessing you’ve never played Shatter, the big green/black map in Crimson DLC? Even on single player, I can’t shoot worth a dam because of the screen lag.

I’ve played Shatter plenty of time, and I never see any lag at all.

Try playing it on split screen. THE WORST 360 EXPERIECE EVER.
From what I’ve seen on this video Outcast is very similar to Shatter, but it may not that important to frame rate. Shatter issue isn’t caused by huge view distance or some fancy graphic effects. The map is broken in it’s technical core. I’ve seen such bad-compiled maps long time ago, but never in modern AAA console shooter.
I just hope 343i/CA learned their lessons from not-so-far past.
Honestly I prefer Shatter over Outcast. Outcast is a disgrace to be called a BTB map. It is large, but the whole point of BTB is vehicular mayhem. This map doesn’t have that AT ALL. So many arches, rocky walls, and places to camp, the only thing I see it useful for is CTF or Dominion (without the Scorpion). All I can envision is Warthogs being wrecked here and there, the Wraith not being able to move (I mean watch the video - they can barely get the Wraith through the tunnels themselves. They designed the map for christ’s sake!). All I can see is the Ghost, Mongoose, and Mantis being useful on this map.
It’s pretty, but i think it looks like terrible map to play on. looks like it has little to no map flow. looks like took a canyon and dropped a bunch of garbage in it.

Many people have the same problems with Shatter, so I don’t know if you are blind to lag or just don’t want to see it.
Every time I scope in, it takes .5 seconds too long. Every time I try to swing my reticle to the right or left, it takes .5 seconds too long.
I’m not talking about “lag” in a connection sense - I’m talking about “lag” in a screen-lag sense.
I really hope this map doesn’t have frame rate issues. I get them occasionally on Shatter and even Wreckage. Usually doesn’t start until about half way through a match.
I’ve never been much of a vehicle user other than the hog in Halo 3 so I couldn’t care less about them being worthless but I can see on that video that players that enjoy vehicles are gonna have a bad time. All I can say is if you wanna use a vehicle on that map you better get a team together. That Wraith or Scorpion will be useless without escort.
