Out With The Old In With The New

What types of things have you seen that have drastically changed game play in Halo. This can range from opinion to actual things that have changed since the launch of Halo in 2001.

Some things to consider are:
Abilities
Graphics
Armor
Aiming
Sprinting
Map Drops
New Vehicles
Vehicle Upgrades

Of course, this entire list is just my opinion on where these changes fit

Positive changes:
asymmetrical gametypes(which we’ve now lost again, unfortunately)
multi-team
Forge(better than ever in Halo 5)
theater
dual wielding(which we’ve now lost again, unfortunately)
vehicle boarding
Warzone
Xbox Live gameplay
overall, just better and more robust custom game options

Neutral changes:
removing fall damage(briefly brought back in Reach)
removing health pickups on-map(briefly brought back in Reach)
destructible vehicles
thrusters
equipment pickups(gone now, but I personally never really cared either way about them)
elites in multiplayer(a lot of people loved them, but I never really cared either way about them)

Negative changes:
sprinting
loadouts(glad to see these are gone)
ordinance drops(glad to see these are gone)
armor abilities(kind of gone, but are basically just called Spartan abilities now)
Spartan abilities(Spartan charge, ground-pound)
clamber
ADS
slide
weapon indicators
hit markers(glad to see these are gone)
automated weapon callouts(I think they call it Spartan chatter)
removal of splitscreen
removal of offline LAN

Halo Reach was the biggest game changer introducing armor abilities. That changed everything
