I really want an entirely out of space, huge multiplayer map, where there is zero gravity, space ships, asteroids a covenant and human fleet battling in the background, planets and asteroids. How cool would this be? I’m saying this cause Halo needs something new, I feel like 343i have made a lot of mistakes and I think they are making another one with sticking to what is familiar with them. We need pioneers, this I think is why 343i has consistently failed.
this sounds pretty cool,
I would love to see something like this but with some additions, for this new mode I would like 343i to take some inspiration for the old Star Wars Battlefront 2 and its space battles, have a UNSC ship and a Covenant ship battling it out, have each team start at or near the hangar bay where the pelicans and longswords or hornets will be waiting for you to use them and phantoms and banshees for the covenant, if 343i don’t want to have pelicans and phantoms driven by players then they can just be programmed to fly to the enemy ship once a certain number of players enter the vehicle. to win you would have to either reach a certain number of kills thus killing the entire crew or by destroying the ship by either destroying it from the outside with fighters or from the inside with boarding teams. this would incorporate some game-modes like slayer, capture the flag, assault, dominion and IF elites make a come back then it could also work really good with invasion.
343i could do this many different ways and this example is one that basically takes the old battlefront ii game-mode and paints it in Halo colors, that being said I believe that game type being as loved as it was in Battlefront II would transfer really good to this game but 343i could place their spin and vision of it for Halo.
your thoughts?
Would be cool, but before this to me comes all the classic content 343 never delivered, if the game has every mode (which must be 100% working) at launch I would support this idea
Okay, im honestly not sure if I could be fan of the mode or not, there are rather many variables to it which change how zero-g works as multiplayer field.
Firstly, the gameplay. Gameplay definitely is a big part of the multiplayer experience, zero-g adds… possibilities but also brings potentially disorienting field which slows down the matches while making such environment even repulsive.
Possibilities for zero-g are something along the freedom of movement, the calm void of environment surrounding the ongoing battles playing with the concept of greatness of battles in human scale while also portraying the insignificance of same events in universal scale, aka, likely potential mesmerizing environment at start, various different mechanical desicions and such.
What negatives such battlefield would have, besides the mentioned, would be the mechanics which could likely closely resemble swimming mechanics in water-levels, the infamous water- levels of videogames. Likeliness of floaty controls with uncontrolable sliding movements after input movements.
So where to start? The first thing that becomes a big part of the gameplay mechanics is the basic movement mechanics, so what type of mechanics would fit into a Halo type zero-g environment?
Few examples could be the thrusters, which are rather common mechanics. Can become floaty though that varies depending on environmental design.
Maybe add something extra then? Magnetic type boots to grip on surfaces for conventional walking around objects in space & better & more accurately utilizing covers, can become a bit disorienting alone. Usually paired with a “jump” mechanic to jump towards platform/object that is being aimed towards by the player.
So gameplay aspect likely wouldn’t be as fast paced or interesting in the long run as other strongsuit modes of Halo but at least a change of pace with chance for a moment to be something “interesting”.
Though if you have something more original as better gameplay aspects, hopefully you mention them.
The modes strongsuits could then turn out to be map design alongside of the potentially pleasing artistic environmental design.
