It would be nice to have some indicator that 343 has actually read a thread. Either a response or a check mark.
Based on the latest tweet about the new boost to gain XP, it feels like they have just looked up some random data and not payed any attention to what people want here in the forums.
Another option to get the devs attention would be to make a Megathread of desired changes. But I don’t know how that would work with the limited time to edit posts.
Again this is how I suddenly felt like after having spent a lot of time reading valuable stuff here in the forums.
Also instead of getting quick posts just before an update rolls out… Could we at least get some insight what changes they are planning to make before hand and what ideas they have gained from the forums. So basically more confirmation that we are actually getting heard. Or even a simple questionnaire would be more valuable data than looking up data from the broken system that most of us are not enjoying and then just slightly updating it.
It never has been 343i’s style to directly respond in threads, just to monitor them. However based on the flight feedback they do take topics into account and use them in their updates.
I think it’s ultimately the smarter choice because what often happens when a designer responds in a thread is that it’s instantly bombed with individual wishes after.
As far as my experience goes from the previous H5/infinite forums moderators were also free to discuss and comment on topics so that always seemed a very healthy way of working
Yeah it’s understandable that they wouldn’t normally respond to threads directly.
But I do hope they would give a summary of what things they have noted down. And before making the update they would inquire what the playerbase thinks about the possible upcoming change.
(Possibly a separate thread with a poll of what people think with multiple solutions to pick from.)
In today’s case it somehow felt like they are being disconnected from the playerbase and quickly doing these changes in a quick notice. And just seeing how it goes until next week… This sort of handling updates doesn’t seem healthy to me.
That’s putting it lightly. It’s funny, I’ve seen of the most well rounded people with some really valid criticisms the past few days, and then I’ve seen entirely the opposite end of that spectrum. It’s highly likely that more curious devs will have a nosy through the forums.
In all reality I’m sure they sneak the occasional peak, and there are some great criticisms hidden away between all the angry children rant posting about how capitalism has destroyed Halo, which while valid, reads like every other angry screed.
