Our story

What about a kind of “spartan ops” in Halo Inf., that tell us side stories about our spartans?

Seems too ambitious to include at launch. Part of the reason why Spartan Ops got stale fast is because of how many of the levels recycled map geometry from both the campaign and previous Spartan Ops episodes. If 343 decides to design a second campaign on top of the base game, they really need to take time to make sure it’s unique.

Don’ t underestimate them, abition gave us Halo

I personally thought 343 had a great idea with Spartan Ops but they definitely dropped the ball on it. Reusing the same maps was a very bad idea, season 2 got a little bit better though. If they find some way to fund Spartan Ops, I think they could redo it but even better. Have a full campaign with Master Chief then side stories with your own Spartans.

Entirely agree with this.

Spartan Ops was a great idea, but they got stuck between it being a Firefight replacement and having good campaign gameplay. As a Firefight replacement it just didn’t cut it, but as a campaign the gameplay was just too repetitive for the most part. The cutscenes and the overall story arc were brilliant though.

If Halo Infinite includes an extended campaign style follow-up with ‘different’ characters to the main campaign then there’s a huge amount they can do to carry the story forwards.

And maybe They could add costum-face… like in destiny… so when a cutscene starts You could See your spartan putting on the helmet.
In this way our spartan would be more unique (?)

I don’t believe I’m in favor of 343i overindulging players as to the special importance of their personal Spartan- Spartan Ops was an attempt at this that went wrong for a number of reasons as others have stated. One of the biggest reasons I think that 343i cannot and will not make players happy in this is that whatever ostensible “Starring You” mode that they might try to implement inevitably will not suit all tastes. If any significant narrative is going to happen around your particular Spartan, they will have to have some characteristics that the other characters around them respond to.

Saying that Master Chief, the Rookie and even Noble 6 are entirely empty husks for the player to occupy is flat out wrong. They’re all vaguely defined as strong-silent doers. That’s an awesome archetype that’s tons of fun to transpose yourself onto, and it’s the only way that a “Starring You” mode could possibly work out to leaving us with a notable, memorable and good narrative. The problem with going another route with this is that a lot of us like to imagine our Spartans as more unique than that versatile mold allows for. When we’re told that we are a Bad-Yoink!- supersoldier who lives the mantra “Actions speak louder than words,” We generally are happy to occupy that role. But if we’re told that we are whatever we want to be, and then have to watch other characters in a narrative react to us in (even in the scenario where some player choice is accounted for in their reactions) one of only a handful of scripted possible ways? That’s not satisfying on a personal level and it won’t make many players actually feel like they’re the star of the show. Or, it’ll be like Spartan Ops and just ignore you as an individual player and constantly refer to you as part of a Fireteam or simply as “Spartan,” which isn’t much better.

Instead of aiming for such a narrow target and trying to please everyone with such an admittedly ambitious mode, I’d say they should really just stick to what’s demonstrably worked in previous Halo games: a phenomenal amount of Player aesthetic customization that allows all players to express themselves through their armor of choice, and a mode that let’s the player live their own story and play around in the sandbox in whatever way they see fit with the return of a Reach-esque Firefight mode, potentially expanded and enriched with Forge-ability and the updated variety of the Halo sandbox.

I think that’s what would make the most players the happiest, personally. I’d certainly give your proposed mode a try if it were implemented, and I’d hope for the best for it if it were. Something like this just seems simpler and more sure.

It could be something like an Headhunter in a solo mission with some pgs that can explain stuff without being main pgs like others spartans on The battlefield that ask you to do something.
Like a mission that never existed.

OOh And of course it doesn’ t have to be exacly like the S.Ops, mine was just an example

That makes more sense. But I’d personally still prefer to see it as an addition/expansion on the basic Firefight formula. Maybe just less confined to a small map and with more customizable objectives than the simple “Survive” (Although if that went out the window altogether it wouldn’t really be a continuation of the Firefight modes from before).

I can see that being a lot of fun. But my contention about the narrative and lore issues remains if the mode designed to exalt every player’s unique Spartan instead of being a broad and detached gametype that any player can engage with how they want.

ya but as “Firefight+” it could become as H5’ s.
Always same objectives. About lore: it would be connected to flood, forerunners, also precursors; unsc/spartan lore would came after.
Spartan(s): it s easy they record more audio files. One for a solo spartan, And the other for a team.
Then the story could be a survival one, in this way we can find out lore and have scenes both in solo and team with pgs like M.Bias or monitors telling us stuff

I prefer if we never have faces for our Spartans. Helps keep immersion going for me. I’m not just some dude in a suit, I am a Spartan (who is some dude in a suit…) and I express myself through my armor. I’d much rather them give more customization for armor instead of uncanny valley faces

Le armature sono garantite (raggiungono lo stile), ma secondo me le facce rendono gli spartani ancora più unici
However faces aren’t the top-wish list.
The main focus is our story… You know I hope in something able To make us feel invincible ( for what concer the campain) and something able to make us say “Omg that explain…”(for “Our story” even if this isn’ t the Best name).
thThis… wish was Born by the lack of chief-time in Halo 5 and by the Lore-bomb ( Cortana that reach the mantle, Guardians, ecc…)
