Our Spartans Aren't Dead... [Halo Reach]

They’re just missing in action.

Since Noble Six is our own Spartan, we can decide their fate. Mine is still alive, still out there. Fighting alongside the UNSC, and wearing a new ODST helmet. He might become a Spartan-2 someday…or he has become one. Could my Spartan in Spartan Ops for Halo 4 be him? We’ll see.

What happened to your Spartan? Do you want them to stay dead? Or would you rather have them live for another day?

Noble 6 is dead. It’s canon. You can head canon it all you want, but within the story, Noble 6 died on Reach.

Oh boy another one of these lol. Like clockwork on a monthly basis we get a “Noble Six is not dead” thread… I’ll admit though, you made this one more entertaining than the usual Noble Six theory threads.

noble six isn’t really the player’s own spartan, they just wear our armor. noble 6, just like any other named character, is not definitively the character of the player as they’re already given pre-written backstories and predetermined fates. we may control them in-game, but we do not write their story.

however, Fireteam Crimson from spartan ops is the player’s spartans, as they are never given names, voice lines, backstories, or personalities. 343 purposely made them like this and left their story un-finished so the player can truly make the character their own. unlike noble 6, your spartan in spartan ops is meant to be you (the player)

also, it is canon that noble 6 is dead. the whole theme of halo reach was sacrifice. noble 6 sacrificed himself so the Pillar of Autumn could escape. if you take away noble 6’s death, you take away the very thing halo reach’s story was built on

spartan III’s can’t become spartan II’s. spartans can’t cross from one generation to the next

  • each spartan program was at different times: spartan II program was initiated in 2517, Spartan III program in 2531, and Spartan IV program in 2552 (actually started in 2550, but at that time was more an experimental phase and was deemed a failure) - Different augmentations - different ways of conscription: spartan II’s were abducted children, III’s were children who were orphaned by the war, and IV’s were adult candidates who were selected because of their actions and military service record - different training and conditioning - number of spartans: there were about 75 spartan II’s, about 930 spartan III’s (total), and about 500 spartan IV’sspartan generations are not like ranks, it is the broad generalization that identifies each group of spartans

Ooh, I see. Was the children being abducted part come up by Bungie, the books before 343 took over, 343, or the books with 343 in charge?

Which Halo game mentioned children being captured to turn them into Super Soldiers?

Yup, it’s been a big part of the franchise since the very beginning. Though OP, Halo 4 is the first game to explicitly bring up the origins of the Spartan-II program within the game. It’s in the very first cut scene with Halsey talking to “mysterious dude” or whoever he was.

Was the book made by a Bungie employee?

The original novels were by Eric Nylund and William Dietz under supervision of Bungie and Microsoft. Not to mention the VERY canon Halsey’s Journal that came with the special edition of Halo Reach at launch.

The novel that goes in-depth with the Spartan-II abduction and their training and indoctrination is The Fall of Reach.

You should also really check out Halopedia and read up on the lore of both the games and the books, since you’re clearly either very new to the wider story of the Halo universe, or you know, trolling.

If you’re at all interested in the more detailed parts of the lore, I highly recommend getting into the books.
