So here is MSFT advertising the Series X as the most powerful console ever.
Then comes along 343i and tells you they don’t care about how powerful your Series X is and make you wait for all those other players who don’t have invested any money in the Xbox brand.
And what better way to rub it in our faces than showing us how much time 343i has us waste by having to wait, and wait, and wait, and showing us this “other players loading …” message.
Why not have those players wait on themselves and let the Series S/X consoles play a few more games every day because we don’t need those long load times?
But that would be too much to ask from 343i now, wouldn’t it?
I get what you’re saying, but unfortunately gaming companies try to over simplify their work and cater to the entire audience in one motion. Which sounds like a good idea, but has negative drawbacks sometimes.
Can you imagine the players who have to put up with playing Infinite on an original Xbox One? Those poor folks have to wait egregious amounts of time for loading and the graphics or refresh rate can’t be that spectacular either.
Video game companies need to split up their commitments. Maybe release the old generation version first and then the newest generation version later.
@kkolossal yes, there is a lot of truth in what you say.
However, Halo Infinite quite frankly should have FAILED the official Xbox certification because it circumvents one of the core Xbox settings - the one to PREVENT cross play.
It is like at MSFT the left hand either doesn’t know what the right hand is doing.
Or - even worse - THEY JUST DON’T CARE.
ANd btw, I still have my “Xbox One - Day One edition” and it works just fine. And when I play Halo Infinite on that one I wouldn’t mind if Series X/S players would rather not be forced to have their time wasted waiting for my console to finish loading.
We aren’t talking just a few seconds here. We are talking 30 to 60 seconds each time. When you play 20 matches that means you could have done 22 in that same time only because 343 i likes to shove it down your throat.
I think it only passed certification because it was a clear benefit to the company to make it appear as all Xboxes are linked seamlessly and with little to no issue.
Before I got my Series X, I would play with other people who had one and they would be checking stats and waiting on me in the lobby to load the post-game results lol and I was on an Xbox One X! Even my Battle Pass and Nameplate would take 2 or 3 minutes to load in sometimes.
Now I’m playing on the Series X, and all of that extra loading time is gone.
Exactly my point!
M$FT should let Series S/X owners reap the rewards for having a fast console.
I just don’t like someone else dictating whom to play with.
Have you ever had a player in your team with the “Avoid Me” reputation?
Why isn’t there an option to really avoid them?
Just another example of how M$FT dictates your gaming experience.
I think it would be very beneficial for the game if the individual player would be able to decide with or against whom to play.
If there aren’t enough for a certain criteria or combination thereof the individual still has the option to widen the criteria or chose to wait rather than having a bad gaming experience. And on the other hand when everyone really has the ability to avoid those “Avoid Me” reputation players maybe they wouldn’t behaving that way much longer. I would call that a win for everyone.
The benefits clearly outweigh any perceived disadvantages.
Agreed. Every time I finish a match in MCC, I gotta wait on the MCC loading screen because I’ve matched with those who haven’t upgraded yet. When I finish a solo campaign mission or a solo firefight game, I get back to the menu in a flash. I don’t see why it can’t be separated and why everyone has to get back into the post-game lobby together. Everyone gets separated after that anyway because of how it’s set up so it’s basically redundant having to wait.
