Other Aliens?

So we know all the aliens in the covenant but surely there must be more? Who are the other aliens in the Halo universe? There must be more than the ones we see in the game but will they be shown in the game or in the Books is the question. I myself am very curious to see what 343 industries has for us. Maybe they’ll let the fans have a hand in making the rest of the galaxy.

I think it would be cool to see new aliens in the fold to spice things up a bit. Especially boss type enemies like that one wild species on Reach. I do hope 343 introduces more. I imagine before we see them in a game, we will see them in a novel or comic.

I’m going to assume you’re only talking about sapient species. As far as sapient species that never had anything to do with the Covenant go (and not counting the Precursors/Flood and the Forerunners) there are a few we know of.

  1. In 97,445 BCE, monitor 343 Guilty Spark learned a young alien civilization existed within a great dense cloud, possibly a star nursery. This alien race had gone unnoticed and unindexed by the Flood and the Forerunners at the time of the firing of the Halo Array. Having not been included in the Lifeworker’s Conservation Measure, the species became permanently extinct when the Halo pulse killed all life in the galaxy. Nothing was known about them or their history, other than that their first and very last signals to the stars were calls for attention.

  2. Prior to 860 BCE, an unknown bipedal species that inhabited the Planet of Blue and Red had gone extinct. This alien civilization had left behind carvings in their stone cities which exhibited their knowledge of the Forerunners.

  3. Lacerta erectus (“upright lizard”) is a low-gravity reptilian species with taxonomic similarities to the Kig-Yar.

The Covenant Empire covered a large majority of the galaxy. What species weren’t included in combat on the field, are known as the Covenant Fringe. Species that are part of the Covenant, but remain on their home-planet and stuff.

It would be great to discover and fight/ally with another species, but it may be hard to integrate well in both lore and gameplay.

Lore- what could they offer to promote the general story? Gameplay- we already have berserkers, traditional aliens, parasites, robots.

Maybe if they showed up in force coming from another galaxy. They have been in slipspace for the last 10,000 years. They had contact with the last of the precursors, and have been fighting the flood since their retreat from the milky way circa 110,000 years ago. And the flood are right on their heels, reintroducing the flood.

Well, an alien ship crashed on installation 04 about 40,000 years ago, according to the Halo CE terminals. They’re either still around or extinct; I’d like to think that they’re the same race encountered by a Sangheili shipmaster before the formation of the Covenant. If they’ve been around for so long, then they could be as advanced as the Forerunners and they might make good allies in the war against the Created (remember, Cortana wants to conquer the whole galaxy). In Halo Wars, Regret makes mention of a threat to the Covenant, but that could be The Banished. Even though most of Halo takes place in the Orion Arm, it hasn’t fully been explored, let alone the whole galaxy, so there is every chance that there could be new alien races.
It all depends on whether or not 343i is willing to capitalize on the possibilities.

Those first two examples have always intrigued me, I’d like to think they wouldn’t have been referenced (especially in the case of the Halo CE terminals) unless they were going to get furthur expounded upon in the future. Then again, bigger plotpoints have been thrown away over the years. Hopefully Fractures and Tales from Slipspace deal with some loose threads.

Yonhet
Sharquoi
Two other species that are in the Covenant, but don’t appear in game.

The first one is just so sad.

Their empire covered an arm the Galaxy.

Of course there are other alien species in our galaxy, some of them were part of the Covenant such as the Yonhet we’ve seen in Halo: Nightfall

More like one half of the galaxy.
Judging from how long it takes for Human ships to travel from Reach to Harvest (the furthest colony from Earth), I’d say that Human space encompasses 250 to 300 light years, and Sol is smack-dab in the center of the Orion Arm. From what I learned from Halo Ce pre-release info, the Covenant colonized from the galactic, outwards along the Orion Arm. So, to be specific, the Covenant controls half, the Humans are in the middle, and the other half is unexplored.

There are other species like the Fringe. There’s also the Sharquoi which are technically canon but haven’t appeared. For anyone who doesn’t know what the Sharquoi are they where cut content from Halos 1 and 2 but are considered canon because they where mentioned in a conversation in a pre-order bonus. I think that was it.

there are many races in the covenant, what you face in the games are the main ones.

it be cool if they nod us with the protoss, zerg and xelnaga…i now its not happening but it would be cool…or even the hybrid…lol

ET?

Theres more then you think, there are races that fought the covenant before humans did, and some are just not in our galaxy anymore.

Space is extremely open with no ends. There’s so many planets that might have life in it

The sharquoi exists in the Halo universe. I hope they can appear in a future Halo game.

I hope that there is another Covenant like faction but with new species that have not been mentioned anywhere, but is that even possible.
And couple years ago (before Halo 4) I thought if Covenant was just small part of something bigger and that would be enemy in new saga.
