Originally, Prometheans were blue. Read below

Frank recently played a mission of Halo 4 for a group of people. It was the second mission I believe. The Promethean Knights are blue! Them they turned orange. Wtf? I’ve put together the first 3 missions:

  1. Chief wakes up, kicks some Covie a** on Forward Unto Dawn, crash lands on Requiem,exploration
  2. Chief has to shut this thing down (something about communication…), fighting ect ect. this mission is called Forerunner
  3. Is the mission showed at E3. Where Chief witneses Infinity crash land on Requiem, fights in the jungle.
    In the mission Forerunner (# 2) near the end of Franks demo, Infinity contacts Chief. Cortana is all like “No! Don’t land on the planet! Don’t do it” Infinity is all like “Ehh. lolwhat? We’re coming anyways”. So yup. Not any spoilers.

Not even close. The mission at Eurogamer was the 3rd mission.
Blue = Night
Red = Day

Forerunner is mission 3.

They change color to blue at night and orange during the day.

hmmm.
I think there they are blue when you meet them and then they turn Orange after you meet Yoink!

It has absolutly nothing to do with day and night

It has to do with them being controlled by someone else.

No night or day stuff.

POSSIBLE SPOILER DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE SPOILED
Sorry i didn’t put the template up, new to waypoint and not sure how to.

I think it has a deeper meaning than just day and night, because that just seems to simple and pointless.
I think the blue Prometheans are allied with ((spoiler)) the didact, hence why there protecting what I assume is his crypt. ((spoiler))
And I think the red Prometheans are ((spoiler)) corrupt and are allied with the covenant because there leader (which may be the “ancient evil”) wishes to be worshiped by a whole fleet of covenant. ((spoiler))

Alternatively, Blue Prometheans = defense mode. Orange Prometheans = control mode

This mission takes place before his (the Didact’s) Cryptum is opened, when Frankie said they were little more than “automated defenses”.

Blue = Following simple defence protocols. This is how they are when you first meet them and no one is in control. ( imagine kind of like auto defence).

orange = They turn this color later in the campaine, whenever the cryptom is activated. At this point they become a greater threat because they are now on offence and are being controled by whomever in in the cryptom.

This is pure speculation, but its a way better explantion than that night/day crap. It also goes along with what franky says about them change signifcantly at some point in the campaine.

Ya those are some good points.
One question, how can I put those spoiler templates up, It gets annoying when I have to type SPOILER SPOILER all the time.

Anyone remember the Elite being thrown by the orange Promethean in the E3 campaign trailer at that lava place?

It would seem the Prometheans will turn on the Covies later.

We already know why they change of color, and what the colors mean.

But the reason contain spoilers, feel free to search the answer, but be aware is spoilery.

They are both Blue and Orange. They didn’t change it from one to the other.

Those are spoilers because not everyone has seen that video because they do not want the campaign spoiled for them.
