I think they should have a playlist that has original settings; no sprint, slide, etc.
Thoughts?

I think that should be absolutely implemented. it would at least ease some of the OG halo peoples minds, even if it isnt the way they are going forward with the game itself.
An option of no sprint, slide, clamber etc would be nice to appease some of the more polarized fans who are against enhanced mobility but then again, we don’t really know how influential halo’s infinite mechanics will affect the sandbox and current maps.
An example is halo 5, the maps are elongated horizontally and vertically, weapons have increased magnetism to deal with the the speed of the players etc. If 343 removed sprint, clamber, slide, the whole map and weapon sandbox would have to be redesigned to accommodate, costing time and resources. Judging from what has been occurring on recently, I don’t believe 343 nor MS has that time.
But to have it as a separate option wouldn’t hurt the game in my opinion, that’s if 343 doesn’t exert too much time and effort trying to appease both sides.
It sounds great on the surface, but if the game is purpose built for enhanced movement, classic mechanics might not turn out to be very enjoyable. Like having a huge map designed for sprint would get really tedious without sprint to move around. Same for all the high surfaces that would normally require clamber to reach.
I think 343 need to make a decision and move forward. No splitting of the community…
I expect there would be a competitive playlist with more original or simple gameplay.

They tried by making the sprint less effective, while still usable.

They could always offer it later down the line and just revive those classic maps which were designed as such
