Just wanted to list off some ideas for equipment that could potentially find it’s way into Infinite. New ideas only for this one.
Offensive Equipment:
Sticky Mines: An item favoured by Headhunters, typically used by solo operators for guerrilla warfare tactics against Banished Forces and previously the Storm Covenant.
A racket of three circular mines sit on a crossbow styled track on your arm. You can shoot them off at anything or anywhere, they stick to everything and can at most from a singular mine can deplete a Spartans shield but does even more damage to vehicles.
The user can choose to explode them remotely or by firing on them.
Pyro Projector: A small-arms offensive piece of equipment, typically used by containment teams when deployed into flood containment facilities on in derelict forerunner constructs.
An offensive tool, short range that sprays a blast of flame in a four metre radius. The flames catch onto anyone and anything in it’s path and can slowly tear down shields, does massive damage to health primarily and can coat an area in flame temporarily.
Can be fired a total of two times.
Protective Equipment:
Riot Shield: A retrofit of Mombasa Military Police equipment, a partial riot shield designed for use by Spartan Security Teams on the Infinity. Too heavy to be used by typical humans.
A riot shield that extends rapidly from the forearm and fist, think of the hardlight shield from Halo 4 but more practical, it covers the entire upper half of the body and is practical indestructible for ten or twenty seconds before overheating and retracting.
I will forever be against damage dealing equipment. It gives way too much of an advantage being carried around and deployed onto others.
Energy Drain from Halo 3 had this exact problem, except it only ever strips shields and EMPs, much like our current Dynamo does. It was also balanced to only have 1 use, one and done. Equipments in Infinite have way too much power if they can be stocked.
They don’t have to be in matchmaking. Or the Pyro Projector could be something survivors have in Infection. I’m just trying to think of the best ways to expand the Halo sandbox for ultimate custom game mayhem or unique game types.
If scripting is coming to Forge as teased, then we can customize our own Equipments no problem, no real need for actual implementation. From what I see from the leaks, we can kinda script guns to behave differently already.
Could for example, maybe script the Threat Sensor to shoot out a mine.
No, on the contrary Hardlight shield was insanely powerful when used in larger maps where there is alot of crossmapping. In fact, the Hardlight was literally H4’s implementation of the Riot Shield, except in a more busted fashion because it covered the Spartan 100% from the front vs CoD’s Riotshield which had vulnerable gaps to shoot at.
Now we have to factor in how CoD implements Riotshields vs how Halo has previously implemented the Hardlight: CoD made you sacrifice a primary to equip it in the loadout, Halo 4 did not. Halo 4 just went like “here’s a panic button” which is essentially the Armor Lock crisis all over again.
If Infinite ever has a “Riot Shield” which serves just as a panic defense on a button to deny enemy kills, then it should never be implemented, period.
