The Good: Kids won’t cry ‘WAAAAH THEY COPIED COOOOOOOODDD’
The Bad: The top player on one team can go play the objective, get tons of kills, and get an ordnance drop with grenades he already has, a Needler, and a speed boost, while a guy who sat at the back of his side of the map with a DMR while running the ammo perk could get enough assists to get an ordnance drop that gives a Binary rifle, meaning that’s 8 free kills.
Even killstreaks are better, IMO. At least only the good players can achieve the good things.
It needs to go. The whole point of it was to make the game more balanced and its done the complete opposite.
The game is as random and casual-friendly it can get.
- The ordnance drops are random.
- The equipment inside your own personal drop is random.
- You don’t even have to get 3,5 or let’s say 7 kills in a streak to get a personal ordnance drop. Just kill 1, die 7 seven times and kill 2-3 more people and congratulations; You got awarded the incinerator canon. A canon which can kill people even behind objects. You miss, but don’t worry, the splash damage will litteraly fly over the objects and destroy the person you are aiming at.
I don’t see the balancing in making everything random. I don’t really see how 343 have widened the sandbox either. There are many weapons but most of the weapons have the same role, only with some other colors on the bullets and with a few changes to the weapons. Overall you will only be using 3-5 weapons re-skinned.
PODs introduce too many random factors on a competitive level but that can be controlled as evident of the recent MLG settings. That makes PODs much more bearable by not giving things you shouldn’t call in (rockets, Snipers). It looks much more…professional the way it was pulled off in the stream showing the settings off. Even AAs can be called in, good choice making the SD and the Railgun as drops (both guns take skill to use) instead of Beam Rifles and Incinerator Cannons.
On normal settings, PODS are extremely random in what they give you. I mean, if you’re getting Hammers and Needlers on a vehicle heavy map like Ragnarok, something is obviously wrong. The less competitive gamer won’t mind so much and to some extent i don’t but i also notice how the randomness plays against me (the gravity hammer on BTB for example).
If i was bothered by anything, its instant respawn. At first i thought it would be cool but…the game is already fast enough. All that was needed was faster kill times, movement, strafes, and jumps. Coupled with dynamic spawns, i can have teams spawn behind me when they shouldn’t. That’s a factor that a player cannot control. It’s even BS when i kill someone that way, who was already weak and i finish him off because i instant spawn ;/
