Order of importance - Halo Infinite Top 2

Trying to gauge what is important to you in Halo Infinite.

For me:

  1. Multiplayer - most of my time I spend playing mp with my fireteam.
  2. Campaign (co-op/solo) - whenever Halo game is released I do focus on finishing the campaign in co-op/solo legendary difficulty. Once the campaign is done in legendary co-op/solo I am done. I go play mp.

So co-op will come later in Feb 2022 that’s ok, at least this time around will focus on completing the game in solo legendary difficulty. When co-op is available then I will complete the game again with my fireteam, again in legendary difficulty.

Forge - I have looked at forge but it is not important to me if this is missing at launch but I feel better that 343 will release forge in 6months time at worst case scenario (may 2022).

Split screen - don’t like playing split screens, prefer single screen.

Keep in mind that halo infinite mp is free to play for all.
Campaign will be free for gamepass subscribers and battlepass you will have to purchase if you are into challenges and get rewarded with armor/customisation.

Multiplayer - but for me to enjoy the game it has to have a good casual and ranked side.

Campaign > Multiplayer > Split screen/Co-op > Forge

Campaign->Campaign Co-Op-> Campaign DLC -> Other lore based SP content like Spartan Ops, but better.

I think that multiplayer would be on my list if they dropped the whole “spartans training vs spartans” thing and made a lore based battlefield type multiplayer mode with humans vs elites etc.

Coop and campaign are inseparable. They should never be considered different. Campaign is not shippable if there is no coop.

Except co-op and solo are different experiences and one is not absolutely necessary, just a nice plus to have.

They have never been divided in the entire history of the franchise save for one spinoff almost noone played (Spartan Assault) aside from that they have always been one experience. Campaign has always just been campaign, whether solo or Coop.

But co-op is not necessary for a campaign to launch. Just because you need it, doesn’t mean it’s necessary.

Neither is single player. Just because you need it doesn’t mean it’s necessary. Plenty of online games nowadays have no single player or offline option. But in Halo, campaign is just campaign, whether SP or Coop.

  • Campaign (Splitscreen Coop >> Online Coop >> Solo) - Any other PvE (Firefight, etc.) - Theater - Custom Multiplayer - Forge - Social Matchmaking - Ranked Matchmaking

I fail to see how it’s the same? You guys are claiming that a game needs to be delayed because it’s unplayable or something cause campaign doesn’t allow you to play with a buddy. That’s honestly super selfish “well if I can’t play with my buddy day one, then no one can play at all by themselves! I don’t care if the game is in a playable state, I want my co-op! No compromise!”

You can’t delay a game for not having a feature if the game is in a playable state.

> You can’t delay a game for not having a feature if the game is in a playable state.

Playable != Finished

The game would also be playable if you were to remove all textures. Doesn’t mean that it’s a complete product.

As long as the coop campaign isn’t done, the solo campaign isn’t either, because both modes draw from the same pool of resources. If something comes up during the coop testing process that requires changes to the campaign to be implemented - changes in level design, mission structure, scripting, AI, whatever - it needs to be changed across the board, including solo campaign. This will no longer be possible (or at the very least hugely difficult) if that part of the software has already been released.
Worst case scenario, it could cause the complete loss of progress on the side of the players who already started the game.

Except that if something has to be changed for co-op, it likely won’t be very drastic to solo since Halo has a habit of only changing things once you have a buddy. Also, this is a live service game, it will never be finished.

You don’t seem to understand the point being made.
If 343 finds a place in a level where it is too easy to get out of bounds in coop, they might need to change the level layout, put a rock in the way or whatever.
If another player has a solo checkpoint in that very same spot, they won’t be able to continue their game.
And that’s just a small example that I can think of at the top off my head. There might be even worse complications that arise.

That’s already bad enough. The game doesn’t need to be even more unfinished by removing core staples of the Halo franchise.

Except that unless it’s super broken and gets you stuck somewhere, they’re likely not going to change that. Halo has always had out of bounds breaking moments, that’s likely not going to change.

Core staples that will be worked in when they are done. They’re not permanently removing them, they’re just trying to polish them so that there are no issues when they finally release it.

Again, that was literally just the first example that came to mind…

I know. And that’s the reason why Campaign needs to be delayed altogether, because solo is equally affected by the work being done on coop.

> Again, that was literally just the first example that came to mind…

And if a worse problem occurs, it will be dealt with when it can be.

> I know. And that’s the reason why Campaign needs to be delayed altogether, because solo is equally affected by the work being done on coop.

Except the game is in a playable state and that’s not good enough to warrant delaying it. There are only so many times a development studio can request a delay. At the end of the day, the company has to make money. Microsoft likely will not grant them another for some minor (to them) parts missing. Especially if they’re already in the works to be added later on. This isn’t so simple as 343 just saying “hey, you know what? We’re just gonna wait so we can finish this stuff.”

Yet they are so there’s that.

Yet they never have before so there’s that. You don’t even go into a different menu when you play coop, it’s not like it’s a separate feature. You just select campaign and play. Forge, Theatre, Warzone, Customs vs Matchmaking, those have all been treated from the get go as separate gameplay experiences. Coop has always just been campaign.

This is giving me major FF Warzone vibes, where when we get coop it’s not even going to be a proper coop campaign and it’s going to be some new “evolved” coop that actually sucks and ends up being more like Spartan Ops or something.
