Hey y’all, I am trying to play all the Halo games in order before MCC/H5 releases, but I don’t know the correct order, and where Spartan Assault and the new Spartan Strike fit into the timeline. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks!
Halo Reach
Halo Wars
Halo CE/CE Anniversary
Halo 2
Halo 3 ODST
Halo Spartan Strike
Halo 3
Halo Spartan Assault
Halo 4
Just play:
reach
hce
h2
h3
h4
they are the only ones that matter.
Alright thanks.
Well if you wanted a exact order of all the games it would go like this
Halo Wars
Halo Reach
Halo CE/CEA
Halo 2 and finish the Metropolis Level
Halo 3:ODST
Finish Halo 2
Halo 3
Halo Spartan Assault
Halo 4
Halo Spartan Strike(mixes with Chiefs return to Earth)
Halo 4 Spartan Ops
Sounds like a cool idea good luck man
Release order:
CE
2
3
Wars
ODST
Reach
CEA
4/Ops
Assault
Timeline order:
Wars
Reach
CE/CEA
2/ODST (more info below)
3
Spartan Assault
4
Spartan Ops (6 months after Halo 4)
ODST takes place during the Battle Of New Mombassa. Halo 2 missions Outskirts and Metropolis also take place during this battle. I believe that ODST takes place later in the battle. Outskirts and Metropolis are sometime on October 20. ODST is October 20-21. So my recommendation would be play Halo 2 up through the end of Metropolis, then play ODST, then resume Halo 2.
TigerKlient has some wrong, CIA has everything right. Except I’m not sure where Strike falls, so I’ll just trust him. You could look it up.

Granted the Halo ODST Epilogue is the only part that would be placed after Halo 2. But thats really nitpicky when playing the games in order. I do maintain a Halo Canon order after all, xD
The classic way you could play in order of launch would be like this. This is my personal preference.
- Halo Combat Evolved- Halo 2- Halo 3- Halo Wars- Halo 3: ODST- Halo Reach- Halo 4- Halo Spartan Assault
I was under the impression Spartan Strike took place during the Halo 2 timeline, as outlined by:
- HaloWaypoint- IGN
It is an ONI Simulation with promethians in it that takes place in New Mombasa - which means it cant sync with chiefs return to earth in Halo 4, as the last we saw of new Mombasa it was glassed.
Would that not make the order
- Halo Wars (directly after Contact: Harvest, or close to it, as stated in Halo Wikia years before Halo CE)- Halo Reach- Halo CE- Halo 2 - until Metropolis- Halo3: ODST- Halo 2- Somewhere in there is Spartan Strike- Halo 3- Spartan Assault- Halo 4
I do believe that is the cannon order of the games.
Cheers,
- N

Well played sir.

It is actually:
Halo Wars
Halo Reach
Halo CE/CE Anniversary
Halo 2
Halo 3 ODST
Halo 3
Halo Spartan Assault
Halo 4
Halo Spartan Strike
Remember that halo spartan strike does not take place during halo 2, it takes place after halo 4 in an oni training simulation that takes place in the events of halo 2 at new mombassa.
Halo Wars
Halo Reach
Halo Combat Evolved
Halo 2
Halo 3 ODST
Halo 4
lol Awesome thread!
Ya i’m going with what CIA391 said
