Ordanance drop not actually dropping

Is it just me but the ordanance just seems to magically appear in a flash of light instead of it arriving in a drop pod that you can actually see dropping from the sky? I don’t understand how they are meant to drop into the map, when they just appear from nowhere, its pretty stupid to call them ordanance drops if the ordanance dosen’t actually drop. What do you think about it, is it just a placeholder or something, or do they just appear from thin air in the final game?

I agree they do ‘drop’ from the sky extremely fast. I know in reality it would be so fast you wouldn’t see it coming, unless you looked up. (Saying that we havnt actually seen anyone do that XD) I hope they make it a tad slower so it gives you the experience of actually feeling the Infinity is literally dropping stuff down to you.

As far as I know we have only seen personal drops in infinity slayer. I would guess that power weapon drops in normal gametypes actualy drops. Feel free to fill me in or link me to gameplay with power weapon drops. I might be wrong

The drop pods teleport into the map when you’re indoors, which is why they seem to magically appear.

It’s going at such high speeds, you cannot see it dropping.

If you could see it dropping, you’d be standing there for ages allowing the enemy to come along and kill you.

Im fine with indoors, but outdoors at least show a trail of fire behind the ordanance as it comes from the sky, and it should only be about a second to drop.

Yeah,

It’s a very simple and minor feature but to be honest the way the Ordnance drops in Reach was fine for me.

did everyone forget that its all insidethe infinity? all essentially a hologram

> did everyone forget that its all insidethe infinity? all essentially a hologram

It’s a hologram of ‘reality’. Basically the environments and everything in them are designed to be as real as possible for the Spartan IV’s.

The feature hasn’t turned out as I expected. What I assumed was going to happen, was:

Twice (or three times) during a match, every player would be warned that a ‘drop’ was coming in. They would be warned via an indicator on the radar, or something, and maybe even a countdown to the ‘drop’.

This was lead to players all scrambling to a certain position on the map to be the first to attain the weapon in the ‘drop’. This was lead to manic gun fights and baiting.

I also expected the drops to come in slower than what they do now. So you could actually see it come down.

This has sort of come to pass, however it appears to have developed into random weapons spawning and every player on the map being able to see their position once spawned. Also, I didn’t realise it was also going to be individual kill streaks that players call in themselves.

This isn’t a COD care package, this is ordnance.
See? they’re taking their Ideas and making them better.
Thank you.

I don’t think people are asking for the ordnance to gently float from the sky and lightly settle at their feet.

What they (and myself) are saying that it isn’t as much an airborne drop as it is a teleported package. The ordnance appears so quickly that you don’t even realise it has come from above. Perhaps the sound effects when you are playing give this a clearer distinction.

I heard someone say that a 343 employee said that you can kill people with an ordenance drop. Hardly a credible source, but if true it could mean that they actually do drop, instead of just appearing

There’s probably an explosion or something when it hits the ground.
and no, I’m not saying they’re saying that, I’m just being general since I just posted on a topic concerning that and I was a little irked.
Remember Reach’s Firefight Ordinance drop where it hit the ground with that loud Boom! followed by that low beep? I expect something similar, perhaps the exact same audio.

They should be like the weapon drops from In Amber Clad in Halo 2. Fast and brutal.

Yes, I said before that this worked perfectly fine in Reach and for me and made a clear sign of Ordnance being ‘dropped’ from above.

It’s just visual effects and sound. The ordnance drops are telegraphed in.
