Options for different team indicators

I know many people already aren’t huge fans of the outlines on players to indicate what team they’re on so I think people would like the options to switch to either having dots above their head like cod or battlefield, or having tags above their head like Halo 3 so we know exactly what teammate we’re looking at. The outlines aren’t a huge issue for me but I think it would be nice to have the option.

Ditto for the dots part because I’m pretty blind half of the time.

I think the option to go classic RvB should be their. They give you the classic option in MCC to see the default armors. I’d have to think they could do the same for colors.

I have a feeling 343 is eventually (if they don’t already) going to regret ever adding toggles to MCC. Ever since they did, toggles have been requested for every little thing a gamer disagrees with lol.

Haha ya I agree but at the same time they should just ditch the outlines since from what I’ve seen most don’t like it.

From the perspective of this moderator, I really don’t think the feedback is all that negative. If anything I’d speculate that most of the population is either (a) excited to show off their Spartan and not be shoehorned into one of two colors or (b) completely ambivalent to the change.

There are of course those that don’t like it and that’s a fair opinion, but from what I can tell they’re the vocal minority. Feedback to the new HI trailers has been quite accepting and positive.

I definitely could see this happening shortly after Infinite’s release lol

The slippery slope of toggles…

It was fine for MCC. Some players will want to experience the games as they did when they were released. Nostalgia is a huge selling point of the MCC, so players should have that option.

Now, for friend/foe designation in Infinite…With Red v Blue, you then lose customisation, to some extent. If you only played Red v Blue game modes, then how can 343 sell skins through the Battle Pass? You’d lose part of their identity. New players that haven’t played Halo before probably won’t appreciate that, as well as some older players. Some argument for Red v Blue is that it’s easier to immediately distinguish, while another is simply that it’s the way it’s always been. Halo is more colourful than other shooters, given the plasma, energy, and crystal based weapons used by non-UNSC forces, so dots may be more easily lost than in other games, which is why outlines were probably chosen, at this point. That being said, dots or coloured gamertags are less intrusive. A toggle would, of course, allow players to chose what they wanted.

I would say that because the HUD is missing for most of the footage, we are probably missing the standard service tags above the heads of teammates. This will make friend vs. foe much less ambiguous.

Was really hoping they showed us the full layout of the HUD on Monday but this wasn’t the case. I also wanna note that we did not see any medals in game also.

I don’t have a problem with the new system. I just feel like if it isn’t overwhelming they could add that for players that want it. It won’t bother me one way or another.

I have absolutely no problem with the outlines, and the claim that most people aren’t a fan of it is a bit of an overstatement i think, i think most people are just waiting to see it in action themselves.
I for one am actually excited about it, i cant think how many times i thought going in an FFA game thinking “damn, it sucks that i can only see my custom spartan in FFA”.

I agree with the service tag though. but it’s possible we just didn’t see it yet because the HUD was disabled for the trailers / gameplay overview
