will we get one this time around? i do realize that the default shoulders in reach were the basic armor which included no shoulder pads, and the default for Halo 4 DOES have shoulder pads, but i was wondering if we would still get an option for equipping no shoulders pads. i actually enjoyed the less geared look to my spartan and how agile simply not having shoulder pads made him appear. i think it would also be a nice addition to halo 4. if there is not an option for have NO shoulder pads, are there going to be options with small shoulder attachments that may seem like there are no shoulder pads? kinda like the sniper shoulders in Reach?
and a similar note? are we getting any armor like in Reach with the various pouches and rounds? i was kinda hoping there would be some options like that. this armor seems modeled after halo 3 in the sense that there is no variation between pieces [besides skins]. I liked where reach was going with the attachment ideas for armor. granted some of the attachments didn’t look great [ 3rd tier for EVA], BUT it seemed like a good direction for armor customization.
I couldn’t find anything on taking the shoulder pads off when running through the menu.
Not to say that it won’t be implemented, it just wasn’t in the Pax build.
Absolutely love the “stripped-down agile” look. On Reach I play as a female model with small-ish shoulders. If I’m not using the mark V helmet I’m using the ODST CBQ helmet because it’s so small.
I really hope they give options to strip most of your armour off, I’d love it!
I think that simply going without a certain piece of Armor is a great idea. I could see someone removing every piece of armor but the helmet, and emulating a Nanosuit from Crysis.

I’m not too worried about the shoulders, I don’t like not having shoulder pads. However the option should still be there.
As for the attachments, I thought they were a great addition to Reach. It added that little extra bit of uniqueness and variety to your Spartan. I think Halo 4 not having this will make people’s Spartans look at little more samey. It definitely makes them look less functional and realistic, just like the armour itself. Shame.

yeah. i guess skins were going to be their solution to this, but it’s just not the same as having attachments
Halo 4 is trying to add as much fiction to everything, so taking off all of your armor and leaving your helmet would leave you with just an undersuit. Getting hit by a BR or DMR would probably kill you as easy as hit points in Call of Duty without energy shielding, let alone armor in general.
I’m all for excluding shoulder armor though. They went without that option in Halo 3 so it wouldn’t be a crime if you couldn’t remove the shoulder pieces in Halo 4, but removing them should be a pretty no-brainer option. If you don’t like any shoulder pieces, go without them.
In fiction, removing your shoulder pads would slim your armor, making you a harder target to grasp.
[can’t wait to get my hands on Recon with Surge (SURG) skin]
