The shield color options are cool, but will the final game have an option to let us see an enemy name color over their head instead? That way the aesthetic can look the same as older games where both teams have yellow shields?
Even if it can’t be done for launch, maybe a post launch update can do it? The more options the better!
make your enemy team color yellow. Problem solved.
Also, theres a setting for enabling or disabling name plates. I am not sure if there will colors for those or if those are tied to shields but you can have name plates appear or not in the settings.
Edit: just noticed you said for both. Unlikely
Honestly I agree that shield colors matching teams were a step too far. The yellow shields in the footage before the first preview looked great, I wouldn’t mine white like they were in Reach either.
That said, shield colors wouldn’t bother me as much if outlines were turned off for enemies. On teammates is great, I love seeing them through walls and such, but if all your teammates have outlines it’ll be pretty quick and easy to realize that a player without an outline is not a friendly.
Another thing I noticed was that team choice also affected reticles. Your reticle would turn the color of the team you were looking at which also clashes with matching shield colors. Being able to choose reticle colors independently of team colors would go a long way was well.
The shields color are wrong because of three things :
- The wounded Spartans became all colored, the light is too bright and artificial, it give the impression to play to a game for children
- The damage shield can be see from afar
- Having a red allie or a blue ennemy with opposite color shield is really disturbing
- I can’t make my armor in red because this is the enemy color (and don’t tell me I can change the enemy color shield, enemy are red)
The shield work very well before, 343 is making things worst
