In terms of console and TV settings , what is the best to play at? My understanding is that Halo 5 does 60fps, so would playing at 120 provide any advantage?
I am talking about with true 2K/4K and 60/120, not one that is software aided. How would it rate if these were the options, assuming low tv input latency.
4K-120

Halo 5 is capped at 60FPS, most console games don’t have uncapped frame rates. Games that go higher are usually only updated for Series X&S consoles.
From what I know you will not get any advantage in terms of frame rate Halo 5 from playing on a 120Hz display. You may have a input delay reduction but that’s about it to my knowledge.
If your display can support 4K/120 then I’d leave it on that. Or if you have the option for a gaming mode I’d look into using that too, it usually reduces input delay by a decent portion.

I figured 120 @ 4k would be optimal if given the choice. If having to choose between 1080@120 vs 2k/4k @ 60 would the higher resolution still be the option as opposed to higher refresh rate? This is assuming input lag is identical or close to it.
It might be mental, internet connection, console or a combination of all 3. When I brought the new series x to my friend’s house, I swore it ran better at 1080/120 vs. 2k/60 even though the game isn’t remastered like MCC.

If you’re running the game at 1080/120 rather than 2k/60 then you’re essentially freeing up more processing power due to the lower resolution. The game still would if only ran at 60 FPS max though, Halo 5 just doesn’t go higher than that.
In theory running a lower resolution & higher frame rate may give you better input response but at that point we’re talking something so minor I don’t know how much you would even notice it.
The only benefit Halo 5 gets with Series X is the faster loading times & auto HDR. Everything else is inconsequential.
