Opinions on the armour customisation

I played a lot of Halo 5 at first but dropped off after a few months and I didn’t really mind the Req packs howevwr Recently I got back into Halo 5 and seen there’s a hell of a lot of armour and helmets then when I look it’s just variations of the same stuff ever time I open a pack it’s another generic looking set of armour or a ridiculous looking helmet with different places for the secondary colour and I don’t like how all the emblems are locked away until you get it in a pack it took me a year to find a emblem I actually liked I hope in Halo 6 they go back to a reach style of armour customisation every detail to your armour made you unique not this crappy different stripes on the armour crap anyways what’s your opinions sorry for the long post

The customization system in H5 is certainly a downgrade compared to previous games. Reach did it best with its more comprehensive system.

yeah For sure it’s a shame because in reach my spartan looked incredible lol and I’m never quite happy with my H5 spartan

I hate the armor customization in Halo 5. Not only is the depth of the system a significant downgrade from Reach and 4, but a ton of the armors have either unchangeable white/blue lines on them or the secondary color is really dark and doesn’t match the primary, both further limiting mix and match.

Agreed , halo 5 customisation in general is very poor . Reach certainly did it best so far .

Very poor & lacks a bit of detail on some armors

Reach was awesome even if you have to get each piece in a REQ pack. As long as you could change them out it would be 10x better.

There are plenty of amazing pieces of armor, it is very sad that even after two years we will probably never have a bare bones Halo 3 style of customization. I don’t mind acquiring armor sets in req packs but they should have allowed us to have a Halo Reach/4 customization set up where we can pick the Arms, shoulders, legs, chest, and visor. That would have been perfect. Keeping the emblems in req packs was a bad decision because you had to gamble to keep the emblem that you want. I did like how the emblem was more like a name plate than just an emblem.

Pretty much everyone hopes Halo 6 goes back to a Reach style of customization.

I dont mind 5’s system honestly. Less i have to worry about matching lol

The Halo 5 armour and emblem customization is severely lacking. I want Doom levels of customization in Halo 6, along with many other things that were removed.

Fair enough.
Wait, about Matching? Like Matchmaking?
Matching armour sets?!
What about the glorious days where you could customization everything and not be restricted to one set, and now wishing you could have the parts of another, but never get those parts because the chest-plate looks horrible and customization matters. D:
You’ve never had that feeling?

I’m not trying to attack you because I remember you from the other forum believe me, I just wanna know what your stance is cause that forum got locked.
No harm, just a question

The other systems were good but i really dont care. Warrior is the best looking helm in the game imo. I dont care what armor that i have with it as long as its big and bulky. Indomitable works pretty nicely for that.

Cool! I just wanted to know, the points both stand for me knowing that I have both a beautifully complex armour customization that allows me to look exactly how I want, and a good piece of respect to put to game developers that, in turn would not be known for slacking off when it comes to the very logistics of a gaming player’s appearance.
Cosmetics are very important to me,
and I didn’t make that clear enough in my other thread, so I apologize if it made me look like the person I normally am not

I just personally believe that having this and the many other things we love Halo for, return, than we’ll both have a better halo, and a respectable developer.
This is all because I hold Cosmetics highly, and importantly, take me as you will, cause I am admittedly, a very weird guy.

But my point still stands! I, and many others would like to see it return, and we don’t mean any harm,
just want to be able to look like the best spartan around, you knowhaddamean?

That’s all we want!

I feel similarly about the customization in Halo 5. Its pretty clear that the unlocks were bloated with armor, emblems were added, and anything that could be an unlock was an unlock all because they needed ammunition for the REQ system. To say the least, I don’t think this works very well for Halo and going back to more of the style of Halo Reach or Halo 4 in terms of customization and unlocks would be nice.

To expand a little on that, in terms of customization, I enjoyed Halo 4 the most cause you had more choices than any other game and could really make your spartan unique while most likely fitting your style. How you unlocked stuff in Halo Reach was great because you actually had a choice in what you got but sadly I don’t see this likely happening with the rise of micro-transactions.
Something I’ve heard some youtubers propose is unlocking a lot of helmets through feats and achievements. Which I think would be a nice but challenging thing for some helmets you need to unlock. They went on to say the REQ system could be used to get cool skins or variations of those helmets but can only be used if you have the base helmet unlocked. This could frustrate some people who haven’t gotten the base helmets but I’m sure a solution could be figured out.

Anyway, I agree there are too many silly customizations and they need to try going back to the drawing board and see what worked for the past games with armor acquiring and customizing. As well as go back to the normal way of using emblems and allow more (free) customization.

I want a mix of Halo 4 and Reach. I like how Halo 4 allows us to customize our arms and legs instead of just being able to choose a wrist or knee option. I do love the option in Reach that allowed us to put on attachments on the helmet.
Now my ideal customization options would be as follows:
Helmet (Pick the helmet and then go in a step further like Reach and add on lights/other attachments)
left and right shoulder pieces
the arm customization (possibly go in a step further and add on tac pads, shotgun shells, etc)
customize the legs (this would be like Halo 4 and get the full leg customization but then maybe go in further and let us add on tactical hard case)
visors
armor effect
stance
customizable emblems like the good ol’ days and have the emblem actually show up on the character.
but to be 100% honest the in depth customization on the arms and legs isnt necessary because if the legs and arms already have the tac pad on it or hard case like the Reach armor sets in Halo 5.

They need to bring back the Knives on the armor like in Reach.

I mean it’s a genius system though, make 400 boring, identical looking armors with like 10 people actually want, then put it behind an RNG MT system and make the play time grind pretty much pointless. Also adding to the illusion the game is content filled when really all you are doing is unlocking the same thing but with stripes on it. So much depth I say!!!

The basic problem is that most of the really good looking armor sets are high level and will take days of grinding to obtain. Most of the others are just various duplicates with minute changes, and some things are just plain ugly. cough cough tracer helmet cough

A 5 year old could have come up with a better armour customisation system than 343 did.
Hell a 5 year old could design better armour than 343 did too. Of all the armour 343 have added only a handful such as warrior, helioskrill and recruit are half decent. Have you noticed that in halo 5 apart from the often ridiculous designs 3/4 of the helmets are absurdly oversized, Spartans in halo 5 look like bobble heads. -.-

The armor in halo 5 looks way to much like plastic to me. In reach the armor looked more authentic and had more customization.
