Opinions on Halo...

All I see anymore on these forums anymore is a high level of toxic arguments, people stating that say halo 2 for example is the best halo game. If you think halo 2 is the best then good for you, but what I can’t handle is when someone decides to state it as fact! guess what halo 2 isn’t the best halo game because really there is no best halo game. Its all subjective and opinion based. You think halo reach sucks? guess what YOUR OPINION. Im sorry if i come off a bit hostile but these types of people just spread toxicity and Im very interested in hearing your opinions on the matter at hand.

btw if your response is a troll, unrelated or uneducated I will ignore it, otherwise thanks for the comment!

Also, lets try and keep this discussion clean please.

I feel the same way. Only Halo 4 can’t be classified as a best, even if its an opinion. And Reach is awesome.

yeah, I don’t like halo 4 but I have friends who do and I can respect that.

yes Reach is awesome!

I think you had the blind skull on.

i grew up playing halo 3 so i have personal bias when i comes to that ones multiplayer and campaign, however i love halo reach because of its addicting multiplayer that i defiantly played too often. I played the old Halos like CE and 2 With my friend but besides their awesome story the level designs of the missions seemed like endless copy and paste hallways, obviously more for CE than 2 but still. Halo Wars was enjoyable game to be because i loved the different play style of the RTS. ODST was cool with the open world but it felt lacking otherwise. Halo 4 is a topic of much discussion. campaign felt really lazy… it was an awesome world but i didn’t like how the whole game was constructed. The multiplayer was decent and i got pretty good at it. Now we have Halo 5. Besides everybody calling it different and not like the “old” halo i personally love the game. the new game types are so much fun! although i wish their were more missions (specifically with Blue Team) i still liked the overall story. it was interesting, i could have done with less warden though. And although a lot of people complain, i love the req system, it is new, a bit limiting but still kind fun to see what you get or your friends get (and laughing at them when they get the scout hog cert). it is a new game but is that all bad? So overall i do like Halo 5 because it feels like a new game and it isn’t just running off of the nostalgia of the past games completely. I do have one question… does everyone agree Halo 4 was one of the worst? Cause to me it felt that way…

i love halo 5… actually i think it’s the best halo, i never played the others for more than a month, and this one got me pretty hooked up

I think halo 4 was probably the worst main series title, spartan assault was the worst overall IMO. And yeah halo 5 is great but tho only major complaint with it is the lack of current unranked social playlists. The campaign is a minor issue for me.

Very true. But it’s a fact that Halo 5 lacks a lot of content so that makes it quite unpopular.

agreed, I accept facts when people have the evidence. There is no evidence to say halo 2 is the best halo, just personal preference.

I love Halo as a whole, but I do have my own different opinions of each game. Though it cannot be disputed that the original games (Halos 1-3) were the best.

With that said, I feel 343’s Halos just aren’t up to par with what most fans have come to expect from a Halo game. Take a look at Halo 5 for the biggest and most current example. Missing all kinds of features, content, and game modes/playlists that we have had at launch before. It’s a major step back in terms of customization for both armor and emblems.

So while it may come off as hateful when most fans voice their opinions, they’re just concerned about the future of the franchise that they’ve come to know and love throughout the years since before 343 even existed, and it’s completely understandable. Though they could voice their opinions in a more civil manner, they’re still letting 343 know that they don’t like the changes they’ve made. They don’t like 343 telling them what is and what isn’t Halo, and to be honest, it kind of feels wrong that 343 even gets to decide. No one knows what Halo is more than the fans, since we’ve been playing this game since before 343 was around. Halo was around long before 343, and for them to just come in and change everything around for absolutely no reason is just strange.

I hated Halo 4, and was weary about giving 343 another chance, especially after the Master Chief Collection, but surprisingly, I do enjoy Halo 5… to an extent. I hope they continue to improve and move Halo in the right direction, away from all these “modern shooter” gimmicks. They are unnecessary and do not belong in Halo. And when it comes to campaign, they need to focus on making the games carry over from one another, not books or comics. The books and comics need to tell their own stories, not continue the story of the games.

Mmm subjective opinion with this though. It depends entirely what you consider “best” here. To someone who started in the original trilogy, they’re more likely to agree with you than not. To someone who started with Reach or Halo 4, they are likely to disagree with you.

I feel like these fans who are trashing created Halo and currently employed by Microsoft Studios/343 Industries. Billion dollar franchise and these toxic people know how to handle this lol. I love them all. Every Halo created I love them. Each one has its flaws but I love them and appreciate the franchise. Can’t wait to see the TV series on SHOW TIME when its complete.

Nah, it is a fact that those are the best. Halo 2 and 3 had the highest populations for years after their releases, didn’t die off after a year or so like Reach, or a couple months like Halo 4. I love Reach for the sheer amount of content it had, but even then it was lacking what the original 3 had. They were the peak of Halo for a reason. Now Halo is struggling to be relevant again by aggressively pushing to be an e-sport.

People who started with Reach and Halo 4 can disagree all they want, but in the end, the older Halos were far more popular in their times and for several years after compared to, say, Halo 4. Reach at least held on for about a year, I believe, before it started to decline.

Fact: Halo 2 and Halo 3 were the most successful Halo games.
Opinion: Halo 2 and Halo 3 were the best Halo games.

Though that’s nitpicking.

My experience with Halo was that when growing up, I wasn’t allowed to play, “too much blood” my parents would say. Eventually my friend got Halo 2, and I was older at this point so I was allowed to go to his place and we’d play Halo 2 together.
When I got an Xbox 360, it came with Halo 3, but I never got Xbox Live until Halo Reach came out, I spent most of my Halo 3 days playing the campaign over and over. Halo Reach was the first time I experience Halo multiplayer, and I really liked it, but then again, I didn’t have anything to compare it back on, but what I will say is that it had the best armour customisation.
Then I preordered Halo 4, and dropped the game after two months, it just didn’t grip me as much as Halo Reach did. Now with Halo 5, I like the multiplayer, it’s very good if not limited by the decisions of 343. But the game suffers problems, first one I can think of is the customisation, it’s truely lackluster, in comparison to previous game is sits tightly inbetween Halo 2 and Halo 3, except they removed elites. Being ranked on victory rate and not based on both victory and performance is really baffling, and the single player is extremely short, and was barely what the marketing for the game made it out to be. So yeah, that’s my experiences with Halo.

Nope. Still opinion.

I’ll give you that these are objective stats.

My whole point is that “best” is, in and of itself, a subjective category. Best gunplay? Best matchmaking? Best campaign? Best all around?
