For the most part, I’ve enjoyed it. Maybe it’s because I haven’t played a ton yet, but for the first week it’s been fun, especially with friends. But, with all new games, there are things I like and things I don’t:
The Good
- Loadout customization: I like being able to pick my starting weapons, because a lot of the time the map determines what i’m using
- Reappearance of armor abilities (minus armor lock): I actually like AA, and don’t have a huge problem with any of the new ones (except for the nerfed thruster pack, which needs to be fixed)
- Default sprint: love this, keeps the pace of the game up, especially on big maps
The Bad
- Unbalanced starting rifles: the DMR has too much range, BR doesn’t have quite enough range, and the Carbine is basically useless because of how long it takes to pop shields and/or kill. All can easily be fixed, and should be.
- Specializations, Support Upgrades, and Tactical Packages: NONE of these things belong in Halo. The best part about this series was the fact that everyone spawns the same (weapons/AA being the exception), and this is just basically conforming to the Call of Duty format.
- Kill Cams/Instant Respawn: similar to point above, these just don’t belong in Halo, ESPECIALLY kill cams. I hate that they put those in the game.
- Subtraction of some classic halo emblems
These are just a few of my opinions, and I still enjoy playing Halo 4. I just think that if 343 would’ve left a lot of the “new” gimmicky crap out, it could be an even better game.
