So today seemed to be a very active day on here and Reddit about the MCC. The flight program looks to be starting within the next few weeks to a month from now and the goal is to begin the public session by the end of summer according to Ske7ch on Reddit. Granted if there aren’t setbacks or delays if new issues pop up during the Flight programs. Does this seem to anyone else that this means the MCC is the big Halo game for the year? I can’t see 343 releasing Halo 6 and the new version of the MCC so close to each other in the fall.
This actually makes a lot of sense.
I would imagine 343 learned a valuable lesson with MCC and with Halo 5, the lesson being th games need to be extremely polished when they’re released.
It makes sense that with no Halo 6, the next best way to bring some cash into the studio is with MCC, which I’m guessing Microsoft is leaning extremely hard on them to get running nicely so they can put it in Gamepass.
A functioning MCC would probably bring in a lot of $10 monthly subscriptions.
I joined the insiders programme earlier, is this the same thing? I’m hoping to help test things out if I can.

This is in relations to what the next big Halo game is for 2018 opinion wise. If you look at the top of the MCC forums you’ll see posts made by Ske7ch about the upcoming flight program for the MCC.
if that ends up being true I hope this update has a lot of surprises like adding halo reach, halo 3 anniversary maps on the h2a engine, firefight, etc

They’ve commented on what’s in and out of scope for the redo. Reach might be in. Check out the blogs that sketch has stickier.

MCC is not going to bring in any new money at this stage of the game we need a h6 that has everything out of the box ready to go

If you think putting Halo in Game Pass won’t sell subscriptions I don’t know what to tell you.
It’s far to late for a broken halo game to fix this its almost everything good Microsoft did with the 360 343 and the xbone was purposely trying to destroy
I don’t think it’s ever too late to fix a franchise that’s near and dear to the hearts of everyone that owns an Xbox.
Putting a refreshed MCC our this year makes a ton of sense, especially if they can monetize it by including in Game Pass.

I don’t know of anyone other than the few here that would spend money on the game pass for MCC we need new games with better production quality…MS is lucky Sony and Nintendo haven’t come up with a game pass at the same price because they’re production quality is threw the roof and I don’t even like they’re games…but to their credit they have more to offer I’m hoping that halo 6 can resurrect Xbox but we need more from crackdown 3 and state of decay 2 and we definitely need some E3 blockbusters

Why not both? All joking aside, the best option for growing the player base and revitalizing the MCC is Games with Gold. The best option for the studio and Microsoft to make money from is Game Pass. I wouldn’t mind if they went both ways, have it on Game Pass for a while, then Games with Gold later on. However, I don’t think they’d do that, at least within a reasonable time frame. But it really all comes down to Microsoft’s decision, which is usually more about short-term profits than growing the player base and building a long lasting game. Especially when the game at hand has no paid DLC/microtransactions to make money off of in the long run. Then again, that’s just my speculation, they may surprise us with this one.

Making money (considering that they aren’t releasing any sort of Halo 6 any time soon) would probably be 343’s goal in this excursion, but I do agree that growing the player base would be best for the game as a whole. If they put up notices in the opening bulletins for Halo 5 about how they’ve completely rehauled MCC, and that the game is in Gold (which most people would have if they were using Halo 5, a primarily multiplayer game), interest in the game would skyrocket. New fans would be intrigued with the classic gameplay, old fans get that taste of the games they fell in love with all over again.
Assuming, of course, that the team pulls off this update. But seeing how well the team has been communicating with the community, I’m pretty confident in their ability.
I’d rather 343i take every map in that in MCC and just add it to H5 at least the btb maps and find a way to make that work I’d tip my hat to them then
