Opinion on base player traits diversification

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t actually support this idea personally, but it was interesting thought nonetheless:

What are your opinions on having armor customization actually affect gameplay?

I’m taking a note out of Mass Effect and Shadowrun’s page on this one: Different armor ‘classifications’ – light, normal, and heavy.

Normal: Basically what gameplay is now–blend between speed, strength, capacity, etc.
Light: Very light shields and limited melee power, but move around a lot faster than the other classifications. Highest/farthest jump height. Low ammo capacity (Halo 4… haha)
Heavy: Slow movement speed, but strongest shields available. No movement penalty from turrets, limited jump height (Original Halo ammo cap!)

Obviously there would need to be strong visual differences to identify what type of armor the guy you’re shooting at is wearing.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO

Please no. The light movement guys would need to move 1000x faster to avoid getting like 2-3 shotted by BRs. It isn’t a good idea at all for Halo, a game that built itself off of everyone starting the match off with the same things. Do we remember why loadouts failed? Just start everyone off equally. Yes some people are better with BRs than they are DMRs, but some maps cater more to certain guns and then you have to be careful how you set it up and see why equal starts is just easier and balanced now before I go on a 5 page tirade?

Yeah I’m with Dajhier on this one. It doesn’t sound like a good idea at all.

Definitely not.
This idea is better suited for a game like Destiny.
