Operation Spearbreaker?

So this is apparently going to be what the extra missions contained in the season pass will partly entail.

Bit of speculation. Calling it an Operation makes me think that we must be playing as UNSC. It also implies the UNSC going on the offensive and possibly as some sort of pre-emptive strike. Destroy the enemies “spear”, meaning base, army or other way of making war. So destroy his ability to fight.

I’d be very surprised if this was set during Atriox attack on the research outpost because, I can’t see the UNSC doing any sort of operation as its presented as a massacre of civilians.

I’d also be surprised if it was set outside the Ark in the wider galaxy. HW2 has made a big deal about the Ark as a setting. You also couldn’t realistically do much outside the galaxy without introducing a Promethean faction or referencing them which would break the immersion of us playing as the Spirits crew. They’re not supposed to know yet, so we won’t see that “reveal” in a side story.

So my best guess is that we’re going to get a series of missions set after the main UNSC campaign that introduce some of these new commanders and focus on their offensive against the Banished forces still on the Ark. I am not expecting a whole lot in the way of cutscenes or story and these are likely to be heavily focused on gameplay with a much more limited story.

One thing they might do is show the UNSC made an attack on Atriox smashed carrier that hes using as a base since this is what we saw in the trailer and we have seen quite a lot of concept art for that battle. Theres also two chunks of it so if 343 really wanted to save Atriox a mission where he defends one piece they can have us focus on destroying another in this UNSC campaign. I reckon this is probably going to lead into the Banished campaign with them sort of on the backfoot and closer to an underdog against a stronger placed UNSC.

I have to bring up something to Operation Spear Breaker could be the in hiding UNSC forces on the Ark. Likely gone dark and stay low out of sight till help arrives with that Carrier down and Halo rising in the distance. UNSC resistance forces having gone com black out to avoid detection no choice but to attack the banished as halo rising means we all dead anyway, might as well go out swinging anyway and no choice but come out and strike. Unaware of the Spirit of Fire likely during Last Stand scattered UNSC forces attacking the Banished forces for Halo and end up running into Spirit’s ground forces and at the same time replenish Spirits forces and additional UNSC forces to wage a effective resistance. It could explain why the Banished could never truely focus on the Spirit other in hiding forces could have pop out of hiding to raid. Now the odds are even.

It appears to be an ODST specific add on, hopefully!

It’s already been confirmed to take place after the main campaign and will be played by unsc honestly did you even look into it or did you just read the title?

Very soon, we’ll be taking a closer look at Operation: SPEARBREAKER, a two-mission story-based addition which follows a squad of ODSTs attempting to thwart a dangerous Banished plot following the events of the main campaign (don’t tell anyone I told you).

From here.
Speculate no more!

Damn I did not but to be fair this topic shouldn’t have been brought up in the first place

“Tip of the Spear” involved taking out Covenant Spires. Perhaps this will be a similar thing?

I hope they’ll have more cinematics. I really enjoyed and got drawn into the opening of the campaign

Anyone else having issues with the first mission freezing towards the end?

I dont think were suppose to comment on tgreads from a while ago. If you have an issue id suggest checking the support forum or posting it on this one as a seperate post

This is why we don’t bring back old topics, information can quickly become outdated and cause confusion.
