This is directed towards the people who thing that halo is copying COD. Matter’ fact, they are doing the exact opposite of what infinity Ward does. Each year the just spit out the same game with more guns, and gametypes and a new theme, 343 is tyring to avoid that updating halo to modern standerds! If halo was the same every year, man, i would throw it away, what makes halo great is that it manages to keep some of the core halo gameplay and branch on new ideas. You cant critizise just because other games have ideas that 343 wants to put in halo 4. They are trying their best to make sure halo is new and fresh, but still has that old halo you love!
(If you have a legitament argument, go ahead. But if your here to flame, buzz off)
It seems they are copying a lot of gameplay elements:
Sprint as default
Loadouts and unlocking weapons/abilities with progression
Spartan Ops
> It seems they are copying a lot of gameplay elements:
> Sprint as default
> Loadouts and unlocking weapons/abilities with progression
> Spartan Ops
But we cant judge until we have seen these options firsthand.
I’m going to quote myself from another thread as I feel what I said is appropriate here as well.
> Basicly what I’m saying is, 343 isn’t the bad guy here, bungie had one more game to fufill their break away contract and go independent. They hocked a lugi and gave us reach. Sorry bungie abandoned the fans, the last coffin nail in any loyalty anyone had to bungie should have died on march 31st. And halo very well could have died then to if it weren’t for 343 being there to take up the mantle and move the series forward. Bungie was more than willing to slap a crap of a game together and push it out than continue the story that made them famous, they turned their backs on us. And if you ask me it’s their lose. 342 has a chance to make a great series even better using the latest and greatest technology and stats gleaned from their monitoring of that horrid thing called reach. They are picking up where bungie should have. To put it in baseball terms their batting clean up. They know a lot of people will be resistant Nd some people will drop the series all together. So be it, that’s life. Here’s the thing though, the people who love the universe like I do can simply appreciate them being there to move it forward and keep us all happy ( well most of us) so here’s my wrap up, why not just see Halo 4 for what it will most likely be, the start of a new and interesting trilogy that will build upon the universe we all fell in love with.
So making the same game every year < copying the game that gets remade every year.
Yeah, each Halo has had a different “flavor” of its own, there was no need to completely screw the core gameplay to add junk from a series I do not play.
I agree.
> It seems they are copying a lot of gameplay elements:

people need to matching these things specifically to Call of Duty they have existed before clal of duty became popular, they will exist after call of duty fall from the top.

- Well, just like a HUD, Sprint is pretty much a necessity in shooters now-a-days. Besides, I cannot tell you how I often I wish the previous Halo games had Sprint after I get ejected from my Warthog and have to walk to the end of the Campaign level.
- The Loadouts in Reach weren’t a problem because everyone had access to them, and only Invasion actually had Loadouts with different weapon combinations.
- Actually, from what I’ve heard, Spartan Ops is a lot like the ME3 multiplayer.

Sprint; This doesn’t at all seem like a big deal, lots of games have a sprinting feature. Not just cod.
-
Loadouts; This seems more to me like the answer to those that Hate AR starts than anything else. And again, CoD isn’t the only game to feature this.
-
Spartan Ops; Okay seriously people, just because the name sounds like Spec Ops (which is a name CoD TOTALLY invented btw [/sarcasm]) Yet by description sounds awsome. And again; CoD isn’t the only game to feature this.
I’m also thinking that those who use the ‘CoD’ arguement don’t know anything ABOUT CoD other than the fact that it’s an FPS that competes with Halo, and for that very reason, feel threatened by it for some reason and proceed to bash it mercilesly.

Well said.
You sir are correct
> You sir are correct
Why. Thank you!
Ugh … do not remind me of Cods rehash of tin foil water guns and dusty ol war torn maps ugly maps. They throw out the same ish every time, but some people don’t realize it.
At least we don’t have commando, one man army, dumb"d"uck killstreaks and quickscoping, there is much more that Halo doesn’t have that cod does. I think Halo 4 will still be referred to as Halo not cod, same for Reach.
See, I knew you guys would appreciate that. It’s simple, 343 is playing the hand they were dealt by their predecessor. And if you ask me they are doing a damn fine job. The whole purpose of the article was to get people talking and riled up. And it worked masterfully. Just look at the activity of the last 24 hours. You think they aren’t gleaning info from all this?
It seems that people keep forgetting that just because some additions come from another game doesn’t mean that it will function the same. While it seems that it may be that way, Frank O’Connor stated in a EuroGamer interview:
> […]Rather than chasing Call of Duty or Battlefield and trying to do their thing and doing it poorly and doing injustice to it, we’re trying to do our own thing, and do something fairly original but still something that’s completely compatible with the Halo universe.
> We’re not trying to do the same thing, it’s as simple as that. We’re trying to do something else, and to push our game forwards and not theirs.

Not only that, but there are a few threads here that have links of both Frank O’Connor and David Ellis answering and clarifying on some of the additions and giving us hints as to how they work (i.e. Forerunner Vision, “Random” Weapons Spawns, etc).
I just wish people stopped jumping to conclusions and spreading fallacies without proof on how they work, and wait till further clarification…
