My theory is that you guys with this Destiny-open-world Halo-theory are wrong.
I think they just made this strictly to show a beautiful big world, like we know from past games.
I strongly doubt that the trailer has anything to do with multiplayer.

We could see the return of the open world levels of Halo CE.
I just made a post about my idea (not theory) on what I’d ideally like to see in an open world Halo (link), not sure how Destiny does it myself as I’ve never played though…

Destiny connects a bunch of maps (similar in size to the Warzone firefight map’s) and hide the map connection areas with load zones and extra foreground to make it appear as one big map.

Kind of like what I’m proposing, but I’m more thinking each zone being more like the size of Solstheim in Morrowind/Skyrim… Give my idea a read and you’ll get a better idea.
I feel like the entire ring is explorable. Procedural generation could do it easily. I bet the engine is made to do this. They probably wrote a gen code for a ring world and are putting in POI for the game story and making the multiplayer maps either part of the POIs or offworld. I bet the ring world is just a giant explorable hub world. We use it as a hub and explore the universe from it.

Interesting idea, but I don’t think so.
Let’s meet back here after the game is released.

For sure. I’ll check in. I feel with nms coming and crackdowns focus on dedicated servers, it makes sense for halo to go balls out full world scale and dedicated servers.

Wow, maybe I’m wrong. And that’s a interesting Halo game, then…
People keep getting the terms “open” and “open-world” mixed up. Halo 1 had some very open levels, but they were not “open-world”. So far, the closest we’ve had to an open-world Halo game was ODST (I actually played the flashback levels out of order due to finding the clues/triggers at the wrong times), but it was still not technically open-world.
You very well could be right. At the same time, I’m not entirely convinced yet that its going to be the normal campaign experience.
I agree, if anything the trailer might’ve just been hinting at bigger play spaces, not full on open world.
