Before you go babbling about Open world on halo is stupid ,stop and look at most of the other games who are Open world now e.g.(mgs v/the division…etc) the halo gameplay mechanic is pretty good for Open world and it also helps us experience whats it like to be a spartan and how to survive as one , thus making this feature follow the steps of what makes Halo …Halo , how you ask?? well thats the same question on why they haven’t showed us the Chief’s face . The answer is simple , they wanted you to be the Chief , they wanted you to see what Chief see’s , fight what he fought …etc. Making this not only a great feature but an expansion to that certain element of Halo.
Furthermore , this helps us open or bring up a new feature , as most of you know the Chief is broken down in Halo 4 , that kinda ruined the game for me seeing a hero in that situation , nonetheless this is a good thing , a Phoenix always rises from the ashes so hopefully we will see the Chief dipped again in badass bulgari sauce . Coming back to this new feature where MC gets to rely more on his Spartan nature physically and psychologically, like experiencing the way he seances his surroundings , spartan eye sight , spartan thinking …etc , this really brings up the abilities of the spartans in the books that we don’t see in the games.
that is all for the two new features that I just wrote about I also wanted to point out that these features are never to be seen in multiplayer but only in campaign , also sorry for the bad English and for the second paragraph I got excited, thank you.

Just saying that is impossible for females, and then if they really wanted you to be Chief they wouldn’t have novels that characterize him which makes him his own distinct person
I think Chief should be even further psychologically broken in this game imo
regardless of female or male it makes you fell what was it like to be in his boots
and for the psychologically broken down part … don’t you think we had enough from halo 4
> regardless of female or male it makes you fell what was it like to be in his boots
Hardly, my friend does not feel like she is in Chiefs boots at all, only Reach and Spartan Ops has made her feel like she was in the characters boots
> and for the psychologically broken down part … don’t you think we had enough from halo 4
No, not at all

well you kinda have a point on the first one , but don’t you feel that chief needs more “giving the covenant back their bomb” attitude I kinda miss that in Halo 4 , I mean psychologically broken down is good and all but where is the badass bulgari warring hero

I’m not saying he should stop doing heroic stuff, I mean in Halo 4 he went to sacrifice himself to stop the general of Forerunner military at the cost of his own life while having the whole thing with Cortana going on at the same time
I’d like Halo to become a true sandbox game, but not necessarily open world.

well hold on look at this for a second , in H2-H3 he defies all odds but still remains psychologically intact , now I can predict that you are going to say thats because Cortana died and all …etc , but was it me or was the chief actually braking down at the beginning of Halo 4

To be blunt… Bungie suck at writing imo, so that addresses the H2 and 3 point
I don’t think he was necessarily breaking down, he was coming more to terms what it is like to be human, Cortana is as close to him as another Spartan would have been, she helped him with the Halo’s and the Flood, which the Spartans never helped him with, she saved him from being infected (in Halo: The Flood, a novelization of CE), she could be considered a part of him as I see it, losing her was like losing a part of himself, he is Human, he is just coming to grips with it

Yeah, we need to break the chief.

I really wanted to comment on how h2,h3 sucked in terms of storytelling , but like you said it’s your opinion and I hate to be selfish brat , anyways thanks for the thoughts

Hopefully gone with all the stupid cliches that plagued Halo’s story for so long. It’s nice to see Chief be an actual HUMAN for a change rather than a generic space marine.

hold on I’m a bit confused isn’t this how halo started

In the games, as previously mentioned he is his own character in the books, and the Fall of Reach was released before CE

Doesn’t mean that’s how it needs to stay. Maybe you’re fine with a protagonist with as much personality as a totem pole with an upturned bucket on it’s head, but I’m not. Nobody should be. Chief was still plenty badass in Halo 4 while showing his human side. Why stop at one game?
Chief should honestly break down even more. Cortana died, and even though he is a soldier, soldiers are human. At this point, its obvious MC is his own person.
Open world isn’t necessary. That was the joy of the game play in the original trilogy. the campaign levels were very linear, but they were just open enough… just organic enough to make it feel open world. It seems like now everything is heavily scripted and even the more open areas you get to by going through a narrow ravine which channels you right over whatever conveniently dropped weapon or abandoned vehicle you are intended to use.
I think I’m gonna pop CE into the disk tray today.

well ok not necessarily “open world” but really big like Really big BUT with actual stuff to explore unlike Reach witch was under expectations in terms of exploration
sigh
what I’m trying to put out is same halo level design (bigger) but with almost endless exploration like a level might take up to 2 - 2 1/2 hrs
Halo should look at Crysis 3 for that sort of thing.
“This is the level, here’s your sandbox. You start here, and have to get to this point. I don’t care how you get there.”
