OPEN UP 101 IP's TO THE SERVERS

i have been redirected from microsoft to my isp back to microsoft again then to 343i then to my isp then back to microsoft… and so on, for a month now, my ISP say that its because their 101 ip’s for my plan are being blocked by the server, they say it may be on a blacklist and they need to be notified to take it off the blacklist.

in my last conversation with Microsoft the lady said that they can’t do anything at all, i asked about the elevation of the issue as i didn’t get a reply and they said that the problem was DROPPED and teir 3 failed to contact me. I then asked what they are going to do about the problem as thousands have it and it can’t just be dropped. they then tried to find a number so i can contact 343i myself and a number couldn’t be found, they then said all i can do is either ask for a new ip address from my ISP which didnt work, or ask that 101 ip’s be unblocked in the forum.

I think you may have more luck if you PM “bs angel” and “MM Systems Team”. The latter account is used occasionally by 343’s Matchmaking team to post official statements; I don’t know if they check the account’s PM inbox, but I think they’re the exact people you would need to see this.

Already did

We have been working with Slingshot for the last month, trying to help them solve this issue. Unfortunately we haven’t heard from them in a few weeks, but we attributed that to the holidays. Hopefully we’ll hear back from them soon.

This concerns me, 343 in this is (to me anyway) saying the issue is with slingshot “trying to help THEM solve the issue”

The issue is with 343 not with slingshot

I wouldnt be so quick to sya that. You know NZ just got a new piracy filtering regime based on DPI right (courtesy of and possibly drafted by Uncle Sam, lol democratic mandate), and those things are notorious for misidentifying and overblocking traffic, especially since xbox live multiplayer is very much a P2P technology.

If this were the case then all users from all isp’s would be experiencing the issues within NZ and AUS not just those of us with the 101 ip string.
Also, users from Canada and the US are having the problem as well

Not necessarily, each ISP would have responsibility for doing the filter, maybe Slingshot just messed it up. Its happened in the past.

Strange that other countries are having problems though. People really need to start posting traceroutes to the halo matchmaking servers/xbox live to see whats up and where its dying. (if youre gonna do this take care to omit your own IP address though)

The current line of thinking is that for whatever reason the 343i’s MM servers are filtering out the 101 ip range making them invisable to the system.

To be completely honest I’m not sure why this is the case but I can validate it as I had no problems accessing halo reach matchmaking until I was givena new cable modem 5 days ago.
The cable modem is designated to a 101 ip string and since then I have been unable to access halo matchmaking of any kind.

I just hope for a fix soon, I am relitively lucky in the sence that I have only been experiencing the issue for a little under a week, some have been having the issue since october.

Recently upgraded to new high speed cable service (Telstra Bigpond Australia) using DOCSIS3.0 Gateway Modem (Netgear CG3100) and now I cannot use Matchmaking in Halo Reach or Halo 3 ODST. The new high speed 3.0 cable service from Telstra uses 101.x.x.x IP addresses so looks like we are all in the same boat!! WTF!! Surely this cannot be that complicated to rectify - Something must be going on with 343i for them not to fix this, are they too busy developing Halo 4, have they blocked these IP addresses for development reasons or are they simply incapable of employing technicians to do their F*&^ing job correctly???

How can a simple user be expected to navigate their way around the mess of ISPs that don’t know their pings from their packets, Microsoft who seem to not give a -Yoink- once they have sold you the product, XBOX Live who pass the buck all the time & 343i who seem like a ghost company that nobody works for???

Thanks to everyone that has posted here and on other forums - lets keep pushing these people and challenge their integrity.

This further proves the 101ip string theory as I have the exact same ISP, the same modem and on the exact same service and only started to experience the peoblem after obtaining the new modem/service

Bumping for a freaking resolution…343i is working with slingshot and xbl ti “solve” the issue?..

How the hell is 343i working with slingshot going to solve my problem when I am on telstra?..
