Ok this my response to 343s assertion that h5 will by able to toggle off sprint. It won’t work. It can’t work as a toggle off because the problem lies in the excessively large maps you produce to go with it. The large maps increase the distances between opponents at initial contact, thus minimizing the use of grenades, melee and automatic weapons because of there inherent accuracy issues at those ranges. So the br and dmr dominate at common ranges. This works ok for Btb and TS but not for FFA or Obj game types. How about a compromise. Design h5 MM (because it doesn’t really matter in campaign) as a toggle On Sprint. Meaning maps and gameplay is designed for non Sprint games like FFA and objectives, but Sprint can be toggled on for TS or BTB in desired playlists. 1 other possible option if you can’t get past a toggle off sprint, is to set it up so the toggle off sprint, toggles on 125 percent bps to help us close the gap without being disarmed.
I am anti sprint, but dude, so many threads I cant hear that “s” word anymore.
Forge maps would like to say hello…

I understand that’s why I am trying to throw out some compromises that will salvage H5.

I don’t have friends, forge is useless to me.

Then I am sorry, but it looks like sprint is here to stay.
I personally like it. The BETA was really fun, and I had few complaints.
I’m neither for, nor against sprint BTW, I just think Halo 5 so far has been fun.

I’m guessing y out primarily play TS or BTB.

Primarily yes, but not exclusively. I would love to play more objective game types, but usually I end up playing by myself.
I don’t know many people who enjoy Halo anymore. They have all moved onto COD / BF / Destiny etc.

That’s because of Sprint. Not that those other games aren’t good games. Sprint just kills halo. FFA and OBJ used to be really big in halo but the huge maps with Sprint killed them.

Somehow you seem to think that game development is a negotiation.
It is not.
Your only leverage is to not buy the game.

I disagree on the objective front, I think that can still work with sprint.
As for FFA, I can see your point but I don’t see it as “killing” Halo, but rather changing it. Whether or not this is a bad thing is simply opinion.

Well Sprint has been in the last two halo releases, both of which suffered from an extremely rapid decline in pop count. While the two games before it went double platinum and held extremely high pop counts for a very long time. So it’s a popular opinion.

Fair enough, but I believe that this would have been the case regardless, although I believe that sprint probably didn’t help.
I feel because of the choice and variety in the online console shooter market compared to when Halo 2 / 3 were popular is the main reason for population decline. This is true in most games, not just Halo.
If 343 oh so needs Sprint because they have nothing else “innovative” then make it a one time use pickup ability or something in that way. In that case sprint would be seen as a power pickup which is temporary instead of constant. I don’t care if the game get’s delayed for maprevamp or mapremakes, I’d rather want it delayed so they can work more on the game and MCC.

H3 stood up to and overwhelmed several COD releases in its time, and the MCC collection just sold a lot of Xboxes in today’s market. The problem really is that games being released under the halo title are sub par for their triple A rating. Part of that is Sprint and its tendency regulate the big sandbox game back to a simple shooter.

But at the time of Halo 3 all you really had was Halo and COD. There were probably others, but they weren’t big.
Nowadays, every game has an online component.
On Xbox One you have BF, COD (x2 games), Destiny, Titanfall, Evolve, PVZ:GW, Halo MCC which all have multiplayer modes, and that’s just shooters.
You also have driving games, indie games, card games, open world games.
Halo 5 will have to compete with all of these for population, whereas Halo 3 primarily had just COD & Gears, and Halo 2 had nothing.
Toggle is going to work for customs. They only put it there for the custom guys that want option not for their games. It’s like throwing a dog a bone hope it shuts him up

As a point of correction; H3 rolled with, not over, CoD: MW and CoD: WoW until CoD: MW2. Not going to link a long list but note the dates are in April following each CoD’s launch, not immediately post launch.
http://majornelson.com/2009/04/09/live-activity-for-week-of-march-30th/Halo3 “fought” for first place, it didn’t pwn it.
I guess we’ll see some community made forge maps, which are tailored for no-sprint

The problem really is that games being released under the halo title are sub par for their triple A rating. Part of that is Sprint and its tendency regulate the big sandbox game back to a simple shooter.

> As a point of correction; H3 rolled with, not over, CoD: MW and CoD: WoW until CoD: MW2. Not going to link a long list but note the dates are in April following each CoD’s launch, not immediately post launch.
