TLDR for those who don’t want to read the entire post: I liked Infinite, but after playing Elden Ring I realized how much work Infinite’s campaign really needed.
So I, personally, enjoyed Halo Infinite despite its many flaws. However something happened, I played From Software’s new RPG ‘Elden Ring’ and it hit me: “WHAT in the world happened to Halo Infinite’s open world?”
Does everyone remember the hype behind the idea of an open world Halo just 2 years ago? All of the theories and speculation around new enemy interactions, new gameplay mechanics, and new ways to tell a story in the Halo universe all thanks to an open world?
Well Elden Ring does all of it and more.
Multiple unique and varied biomes, enemy interactions that change based on time of day, unique enemies that spawn in based on what time of day it is, over 60 unique optional bosses that don’t have copy and pasted movesets, and co-op in an open world environment.
As much as I liked Infinite’s campaign I couldn’t help but be in awe of Elden Ring’s open world and constantly think “This is it, this is what we were hoping Infinite would have!” as I was playing the game. Infinite’s campaign was good, but there’s so much that could be improved, and I really hope that any future DLC drastically improves the game.
