Up until this morning I had thought I understood the ranking system fairly well; you win games your CSR goes up, you lose games your CSR goes down. Simple. Then I played these games:
Game 1: Victory CSR 1891
Game 2: Victory CSR 1891
Game 3: Victory CSR 1891
Game 4: Victory CSR 1891
Note that these were all played in immediate succession after the match ended. Clearly we won the matches but my rank stayed the same for over 4 games. The only explanation I can think of is being awarded +0 CSR for not facing high CSR players(The fifth game in a row had a 1700+ Onyx player and victory bumped me up to 1908). If so, I can only ask why in the world am I being placed against players I can only stand to retain my rank, at best, against?
I think this is correct. But not entirely sure. I’ve done poorly in some FFA games but still placed over someone with a higher onyx rank than me and gone up. So I think they have to be better than you and beat them to place higher.

But when I ranked up after winning the fifth game I was the highest Onyx rank in the game?
