According to the description for Onyx ranked players it’s the 201-3,000 top players worldwide. But the csr populations on HaloTracker list over 15,000 Onyx players in Slayer. How can these two statistics coexist?
Onyx is just >1499 CSR, so there’s no limit on how many people can reach it.
Not sure how accurate halotracker’s data is now, but 15k onyx in slayer doesn’t seem unreasonable.
As far as I’m concern I’m the last of the Onyx’s race

So is this description from Halopedia wrong or am I misunderstanding it?:
”While the first five divisions do not have a numerical value attached, the Onyx and Champion divisions do. Players within the Onyx division are ranked 201-3,000 while Champions are ranked 1-200. Players in the Onyx and Champion divisions cannot share the same rank, IE there is only one player with the rank of 185 in Team Slayer in the world. If a player wishes to rank up they will cause other players to lose rank similar to a leaderboard.”
