ONYX % of player base?

I’m curious if it is known roughly what percentage of the entire user base within a particular playlist is placed in the Onyx/Champion ranking. Is this known?

Champion is top 200. Thats all I know

They have not given exact numbers for Onyx but

^^^ this is what it takes to be in champions.

I’ll never get to champion

With these aiming mechanics!

I am at Diamond that is the top 2000 right?

Nope I’d say that’s more like onyx. But to be honest every man and his dog seems to be in onyx.
You can’t rank down once you reach onyx so it can’t only be top 2000.

No, that’s incorrect. It’s a tiered, Elo system. So, there is a number attached to your ranking, although you do not see it until you reach the onyx tier, which is 1500 Elo and above. It doesn’t have anything to do with percentage of players. The 200 players with the highest Elo are moved from Onyx to Champion… Which doesn’t have a range, it’s just an indication that they have a top 200 Elo rating.

I think Onyx is supposed to be the top 2500 of a specific playlist, then champion is the top 200.

Sorry, but that isn’t correct. There can be more than 2500 in Onyx. While not possible, more than half the population in a given playlist could be Onyx. This stems from the fact that once you reach it, there is no way to go back down a tier.
