I’m an Onyx player in just about everything, I usually always play with a team and every single day when I win a game I don’t get ranked, when I lose a game I get deranked. I really love Halo, it’s the greatest FPS on console, and I don’t really mind because I play to get better but how can I get better when I’m not playing people my skill level. I’ve also been in Champions twice, in slayer and I won 5 games in a row both times and deranked -2 points and went from 190 to 200 and got demoted to onyx. Halo 2 &3 were so fun because the ranks were not broken and that was pure skill. It got worse after the Forge update. Guess I’ll wait for better ranks just like halo 4… 
343 is well-known for all their mistakes and absurd glitches/bugs. At least things are better from Master Chief Collection, where your rank would be reset multiple times for no -Yoink- reason.

Halo 5 is a good competitive game, but you can’t say it’s atleast better than MCC because that game was literally the most broken game on Xbox history. The sad thing is we think halo 5 is good just because it’s not MCC when honestly it’s an average game compared to Halo 2 and god … I miss Halo 3 … Oh wait I can play H3 on MCC!!! …
The people you play with. What ranks are they?
I’m not criticizing, I’m just asking a casual question, Why they obsession with rank? is it bragging rights? Are you trying to go pro? Are you not having fun when you play? does the game have to have rank simply for you to have fun? I’m just trying to understand your thought process. Again I’m not criticizing.
The ranking system is broken. You shouldn’t ever lose rank from winning. It’s not my fault I get matched against Diamonds or lower when I’m running a party of 3 ONYX’s 1650-2080. I miss the old 1-50 system. I can’t play everyday, so I have no chance of ever staying in Champion. If I got a 50 in Halo 3 I wouldn’t lose it just because I went on vacation.

Firstly, champion is just the top of onyx.
The system isn’t broken. at onyx, the system Simply a leader board. If someone CSR surpasses yours you aren’t “deranked”, you just fall lower on the leaderboard. Your MMR will remain static, and you will still be matched according to that MMR.
its like getting a high score at the arcade. If you don’t play for a while, when you come back, your high score is replaced.
Maybe in champion they take personal performance into account. The skill level between 20 people in champion, based on wins is going to be roughly equal. and someone just had games where they performed really well, like 5 games with a KDA of 20, while yours was around 15. Both are excellent. It makes sense that you don’t always rank up when you win in champion for the same reason, there is very little room to move up, with an insane amount of competition.
