I’ll start from the beginning. I got Halo 4 standard at launch. I played on Xbox live before November 20th and got the Specialization Priority Alpha. I continued playing on and off as usual but a few days ago my Xbox decided it was time to cry wolf and claim my HDD was “unformatted”.
I’ve dealt with this bullcrap non-issue before, reformatting and then re-downloading games and add-ons that had to be removed while the HDD reformatted. And this time something was different; upon ranking to SR100 yesterday, I went to choose one of my three remaining specializations: Stalker, Rogue and Pioneer. They were not present. I thought: Hey, the “Specialization Priority Alpha” I got for playing so close to launch is in my Download History, isn’t it? And it was. I hit "download again, witnessed it being downloaded, restarted my xbox for good measure, and started up Halo 4. Still no specializations to take next. I’ve actually done this a few times now, and I’m still not able to choose from my last three specializations.
I almost suspect that re-downloading “Specialization Priority Alpha” more than once may have done something, but I’m still not sure. I wouldn’t know how to find the duplicates of that download, anyway.
If anyone out there has advice, or preferably an answer as to why suddenly I’m not allowed to progress in this game even though I HAVE “Specialization Priority Alpha”, I’d really appreciate it.

I’ve done that. More than once now.
And the poll is a joke. The point of it is NOBODY WOULDN’T be disappointed by this.
And I’ve taken the good advice from Enenra and looked for the duplicates. There’s nothing in my HDD or cloud that is labelled “Specialization Priority Alpha” anywhere.
Okay, so before posting this reply, I’ve checked what deleting “halo 4 game unlocks (downloaded items)” does, and that took away my Battle Rifle ACT and my pre-order Hazop armor.
The “Specialization Priority Alpha” download was 108 kb, and nothing in my storage device involving halo is that large unless it’s the title update, the stuff from disc two, or the one saved film I have (which is dated before November 20th and available on my File Share.)
So I guess that download is invisible or something? Why tell me it’s successfully downloaded when I can’t find it on my HDD xbox? 343? Anybody?
Aha, So APPARENTLY deleting the data for having those pre order armors and weapon skin, and then ONLY re-downloading “Specialization Priority Alpha” only brings THE WEAPON SKIN AND THE ARMOR SKIN BACK.
Okay, it is clear to me that things cannot become any more messed up than they are.
What I shall do is reformat my Hard Drive AGAIN even though it isn’t necessary. This does not harm my progress on Halo 4.
Then I shall recover my account.
Then I shall get the Halo 4 title update.
Then download all the essentials from disc 2
Then check if I can pick another specialization
If not, I will go download “Specialization Priority Alpha” ONE MORE TIME.
Then I’ll check for specializations one more time.
And then I’ll come back here and let you all know what happened.
Okay, I’m back. And mission successful. I guess I accidentally downloaded the specialization priority twice and that messed something up I think… The point is, Crisis averted. I wont have to wait for specializations alongside the people who got Halo 4 for christmas.
I’ll pick Stalker next because I wont benefit very much from Rogue and I’m going for Pioneer last since I don’t want an XP boost taking up space on my loadouts.
