My young (7 yrs) son loves halo, but is to young to play the campaign due to language. I know violence and killing is probably pushing it, but it’s aliens and the Halo franchise has always gone light with the gore.
I only let him forge and firefight with his cousin. I don’t really like FF and didn’t really like all the challenges that were FF related. I’m still sad to see it go for my son.
I wonder if spec ops will be a game type for the little guy…I’m guessing not. I guess that’s good for me and not for my boy.
I’m guessing very few of the members of the forums fall into this category.
Do you think FF might be added down the line as DLC??
Personally, I don’t see Firefight returning in the form it was. Maybe some type of survival mode like Zombies, but with the flood or something else. 343 likes copying other games so it might be possible to see something like that happen.
I wouldn’t get your hopes up for Halo 4 though, I’d wait and see for Halo 5.
I doubt it’s gone forever, but if you compare Reach to ODST, you’ll soon see that despite new technology and abilities in Reach, ODST Firefight was the better. You had a reason to fight, tons of enemies and good ones at that, you had to fight to win, not “press RT to win”.
Halo 4 got Spartan Ops instead, which is ok.
However, I would assume that Halo 5 or more likely Halo 4 “spin off” (ODST?) will offer you a new and improved Firefight, with the customization and freedom from Reach, but the challenge and hardcore gameplay from ODST.
I think Spartan Ops will be fine for your 7 year old, if it is gonna be similar to MW2 Spec Ops, I think Captain Price only said like “Keep it up 141”, the narrator or announcer never swore, so hopefully for your child’s sake , it will be appropriate for him.
I doubt firefight will make a return but if you want a helpful tip I can throw one your way. If you set your childs account up as a child account you can mess with the settings so the only people he can hear online or receive messages from is his friends. If you need assistance you can call 1-800-4my-xbox and they will help you get a child account set up. You can also look online for easy ways to set such a thing up. The only thing you really have to worry about is online teabaggers. If your son is only 7 he may not even know what’s going on. idk if this will help but it’s all I really got for you.
My son is four and I only let him race around in the vehicles in forge world. He’s actually flipping Warthogs and landing them upright while occasionally dive bombing me while I’m forging with a Banshee. He’s snuck onto a couple Firefights with his grandfather and I got the couch.
Yes three generation play Halo together, that’s how great this franchise is 343. I’m sure you’ve heard that a million times. Not a lot of gore or cursing if at all and Forge is a blast just to make jumps and race tracks for kids. I’ll miss firefight also, but I figure it will probably be back in Halo 5. Don’t ever let Halo lose it’s class Microsoft. You can’t control the players, but your game is fun for families. I’d hate to see that go like Firefight.
Halo has been light on gore…not the original, you could make blood pop out like no tomorrow. But FF will most likely not reincarnated with the exception as a possible gametype of Infection. But look on the bright side! Forge will improve and the craziness will only grow.

Good tips. It’s mostly for my wife. My kiddo plays on my account and doesn’t ever play match making. I don’t think the announcer is to bad, but in the campaign cut scenes and general language is for a mature audience…as it should be. Fire Fight is just nice because it’s simple and self contained.
If I were to add 2 more cents, I would say 343 will be adding a new game every other year into the halo cannon (like ODST, Halo Wars). These will probably continue the FF tradition if they are an FPS.
And for the record ODST FF was head and shoulders better than Reach FF. I loved the achievements and working toward them with a dedicated group of friends. Reach traded that for AFK’ers and boring credit earners like gruntpocalypse…meh.
> What language do they use in reach besides -Yoink!-? And that isn’t even bad.
probably nothing that you’re not use to hearing, but language I personally don’t want to introduce to my son’s vernacular:) I’m guessing most of the words would show up as yoink…I actually typed that.
> I honestly can’t imagine Sops having graphic language. I wouldn’t be too worried. If there’s going to be swearing it’ll be in the weekly cutscenes.

> On the bright side: At least he’ll have the best Forge yet.
Just so that we all know, I’m not asking for 343i to kid-o-fy Halo for me. Let me have it, I’m an adult, I think there might be a little swearing in the weekly cutscenes. just my opinion.
