If you just outline Your own team you can easily distinguish friend or foe and now you won’t be able to pick people out from across the map.
That’s not the primary function of the outlines, so it would negate one of the main reasons they exist. They are intended to help visibility yes.
You would still be able to see an enemy player across the map without the outlines. We have been doing it for years on the other Halo games.
Enemy Outline should be like Destiny 2’s Crucible
It’s an Arena shooter. I want high visibility and to be able to see my enemies clearly.
No matter how many times I see this idea come up, I will add my voice to support it. Although there have been some other suggestions that I like as well (based on proximity and targeting).
Enemies with coating colours that melt in with the surrounding (like brown, gray, green, depending on map) will be much harder to notice than those who are red, pink etc. This is already a problem even with the outlines imo. I just think the outlines are all in all the wrong direction.
To be clear, I’m not against this suggestion as an “option”. But it won’t be a solution for my own issues with the outlines. Options are good though, so yeah sure.
Yeah, enemies don’t need outlines until you start shooting them, they stand out too much.

Nah I’ve played every halo and the bright red outline totally removes any sort of stealth element for thing like CTF games. It’s way way different than past HALO.

You’re cheated by yourself. Enemy noticed you easily if you’re Red team in a grey/dark map and Blue team in Truth, just no mic and no Ping system, defender support a bit late.

Stealth only exists if you’re off screen, even in the older games. I don’t want to sound too harsh but I genuinely think some people need to visit an optometrist.

Same here. I would very much like the possibility to completely turn off outlines all together and just use the gamer tags to recognise friend from foe. Possibly this will make it harder, but I would like to know how it effects the game visually (like shield status).
Considering FFA I figure they will still use the outlines; giving you your basic friendly colour and all enemies the same enemy colour like playing a team game. I’m basing this by the way on the training mode bug where you despawn your own bots and they return as a third team that fights you and the enemy (while having the same outline as the enemy).

lol I have good vision. Highlighting something makes it more visible not highlighting it. Pretty simple.
I think this would be a great idea. They could remove enemy outlines but increase the radar radius and effectiveness to compensate. It’s not even that I don’t like the outlines in a gameplay sense but I also feel like it’s a bit of an eye sore and detracts from the atmosphere and beauty that 343 created with Infinite.
Removing enemy outlines would not only serve the game’s atmosphere, but also make it more challenging to pick out players at a distance on larger maps. Players would get better at noticing enemies at range as they become more experienced with the game, instead of having everyone be able to spot blobs of color with no difficulty.
