I’ve cast my vote of no confidence for Brian Reed. What have you? I propose granting Joseph Staten Emergency powers over 343.
Yeah. I’d say It’s somewhat of an emergency.
If we want to see Brutes again, Prophets again, Flood again, Halo rings again, etc… It’s a high possibility that if he doesn’t write at least one more Halo story to continue Halo 3 and 4 properly, we will never see the aforementioned things again. 343 just keeps working them all out of their stories somehow, which at first didn’t bother me because it seemed like they were making the universe larger, now it seems to be the opposite. They’ve almost removed them from the universe entirely.
Joseph Staten doesn’t make content for release day, which was the biggest problem with halo 5. I would definitely love to see him take the story and work his magic.
Can’t say about Staten but Brian Reed Needs to go, coz if halo 6 doesn’t include flood then the game will be a flop for me
Joseph Staten of Chris Schlerf. But Chris is part of the Destiny team now.
Anything but Brian Reed for the next Halo.
Anyone else misread the title as “Joseph Stalin?”
Yes! Can we please go back to the classic enemies?!?!
The damage is already done. Halo 5 put a permanent scar on the Halo lore. So Halo 6 can never be as great as it could have been because the story has to continue from the -Yoink- AI takeover plot. Plus Tanaka and Locke are flat characters that nobody wants to see again.
I’m still not confident Brian Reed is the problem. It’s not like he writes the script and then the team begins making the game. Right?

lol, this
commies…all of you…
oh wait
I disagree with your title, there are plenty of talented writers such as Greg Bear and Eric Nylund who have written fantastic stuff for the Halo universe. I could see them taking the reigns of the series.
That being said, I do agree that the current team of writers, especially the lead writer, are very sub-par. Halo 5’s campaign was a huge disappointment from a story perspective. If they don’t make any changes, I feel like Halo will be digging its own grave.

Just think… If we resurrected Stalin and put him in charge, he would bring back the flood, brutes, guards and all kind of good things. Being the commie he is, he would line up the entire staff in front of a brick wall and call in the firing squad, just to top Kim jung Un…

wasn’t this supposed to be another trilogy though? If that is the case they’d have to introduce and resolve the flood arc in the same game or put it off for Halo 7 or whatever it might be. Either Halo 6 would have to be super long or it would have to be some of the best writing the planet has seen.
That said I want Brian Reed out. I don’t even normally critique things like writing and story because I’m not very good with these things myself. That said, I honestly feel like I could’ve developed the characters better and not made the story a cliché mess and that’s saying something.

Course, on the other hand, his writen Halo works with Initiation and Escalation were received as some of the worst stories by a lot of people who read them. He certainly isn’t the sole problem with the writing, but they should let someone else take a crack at it.
we at least need to fire brian reed. staten does work for microsoft so i wonder what we could do to lure him back to halo. I enjoyed shadow of intent and i want that back into a main halo game.

Staten is writing ReCore though, so he probably will be busy with that for a little while longer because we still haven’t heard anything about that game even though, last I checked, it was supposed to come out this year.

True, I say him because other than writing he was very evolved in the production of the earlier titles. Gives him more weight because he considers level design in the story telling.
Agreed
Give him lead of a small team to do a standalone Halo game and let our wallets do the talking. Staten is the man!
