ONLY disconnected during/after The Maw

SPOILERS MAY FOLLOW

My wife and I have been playing Halo: CE on the MCC the past two nights. She is on her Xbox. I’m on mine. We’ve played through the entire game with no issues. Then we get to The Maw on Tuesday 11/11 and we go to jump in the Banshees to get off the ship and it kicks me back to the main menu and tells her that she’s lost connection to the host and she’ll be disconnected in 15…14…etc. We played the entire game with no issue, yet right when we’re at a pivotal moment, she gets disconnected.

Fast forward to Wednesday 11/12 and we start it up and it picks up right where we left off, giving us credit for getting into the Banshees. It takes us to the final part of the level. We grind through it, hop in the Warthog, make it to the end, and it plays the final cutscene. Then, it does the exact same thing to her. Kicks me back to the main menu and tells her that she’s lost connection to the host. Again, we haven’t had an issue on any other level or cutscene or even any other game.

After this has happened, it gives me credit for 10/10 for Halo: CE, but gives her 9/10. It also did not unlock the avatar for completing CE, or the Pillar of Autumn for either of us.

My questions are as follows:

  • Why does this happen?- What are our options?- Is she forced to host it and we have to play through it on her host?- Why am I not given the avatar unlocks? All input is greatly appreciated.

Same thing happened with me and my friend twice after the maws final cutscene, so frustrating and disappointing.

Props to you guys for trying the ending again. The wife doesn’t have the patience to grind that out. haha. That’s probably more frustrating than the lack of matchmaking. It’s just that neither part of the game works. I hate to say it, but I’m glad I’m not alone in this. Maybe 343i will patch soon.

More issues last night:

Tried to play Outskirts on Halo 2 last night with the wife. Started the game, then it kicked me back to the menu and told her that she had been disconnected. When I re-invited her, it said the session was full - it wasn’t. So then, I figured I’d start it solo then invite her. So, I try to start Outskirts alone and it tells me that the connection to host has been lost…but…I was the host? After 20 min of trying, I finally got in. I invited her again and it told her the session was full - again, it wasn’t.

This is all so frustrating. No part of the game is playable. Sure, maybe I can jump into a custom game alone, but I don’t play Halo to run around and see the sights on Blood Gulch. I play it for the story and competitive multiplayer.
