Only Campaign Achievements

With the announcement that Halo Infinite’s multiplayer will be free, I think that is a good indicator there will not be any multiplayer achievements.

There are several games with free-to-play multiplayer (Fortnite, Warzone) that only have achievements in their campaigns. There are a free-to-play games with achievements also, but they are only multiplayer games (Apex Legends.)

Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians both launched with primarily single player achievements, and any multiplayer achievements were able to be obtained but just playing normally (such as Halo 4’s Not Some Recruit Anymore or Halo 5’s Cry Havoc.) But neither game had specific circumstance achievements like Halo 3’s Two for One or Mongoose Mowdown.

Once DLC was added, additional achievements were as well which called for these specific circumstances in Halo 4 (example: Didn’t See It Comin’.) Halo 5 also received new achievements with the addition of Score Attack and Warzone Firefight, but none that called for the player to complete a very specific goal involving another player.

Personally I do not wish to see these types of achievements return, as I don’t enjoy achievements that require other people. This is coming from someone that has every main Halo game completed 100%. I am hoping that Halo Infinite’s achievements will be campaign only / normal progression related in multiplayer given the Free-To-Play nature and pattern set by other F2P games.

I forsee the multiplayer being a completely separate game (see Crackdown 2), with it’s own completely separate achievement list. This will allow for 100% completion in each game individually.
