*Sigh… What happened to the halo community?.. Reach still had roughly 200,000 playing even after it was clearly dead and gone… Halo 4 can barely break 100,000.

More than half left for BLOPS II
It’s a shame. 343 can’t get their heads out their -Yoinks!- and listen to actual competitive fans.
Now they pay the price for their inability to listen

Reach wiped out half of the halo community. Halo 4 put the nails in the coffin. Reach will have a greater population within a couple weeks. Halo is dead. Sad but true. That what happens when u piss off the core players and try to copy COD to make more money.

I shall wait and see if the Christmas noobs bump up the population. I just hope the population doesn’t get too low to the point that we start seeing less playlists.

Let’s not forget the level 70’s that will return after the remaining ranks get unlocked for them. I just hope they add more ranks. Not for me though mainly for the population. I know many will quit after maxing rank. I play after I cap because I love the game.

Reach stayed at 60k-100k it’s been a while since it’s broke 200k.

Thanksgiving, Black Firday Video game Deals (I picked up AC3, Dragon Age Origins with all the DLC, Bayonetta and Devil May Cry Collection) and today is Cyber Monday.

People are either coming back form the holidays or are picking up and playing other games, or dreading about having to go to work tommorrow or school lol

I think I can anwser your question fairly easily, well, for one, it’s very late for most people in America, it’s also very early for us here in England. It’s also sunday night, so most people have either work or go to school today.

I think mid day today it was over 200,000.

Quick question. Do you always let the population of a game at 2:15 AM (local time for me) on a school/work night determine if a game is ‘dead’ or not? Most of the target audience is asleep.

Edit : Oh, and for the record, the Reach population counter has been broken for some time now.

Same here. And I’m in the US.

lol Reach population counter. I’ve seen that thing drop below 10k before.

Even peak hours post BO, Reach wasn’t pulling that many players. If you guys think Halo 4 is bad, you should have been around the first year of Halo Reach.

Last time I checked H4 made a lot of competitive players return after Reach’s disappointment, including myself. People are just not to hyped about playing H4 at the moment since there is no ranking and the social playlists get a bit too boring. Doesn’t mean they left, just means we are waiting for 343 to change up stuff and initiate the CSR with actual playlists.

No, it was around 155000

Pretty much what ^^^ guy said.

monday,1:30am central time , is not exactly a great time to look at the total population since people are either asleep or going to class or work at the time(dependin on which hemisphere you are in).

Of course. Sleep is for the weak. Why I remember halo 2 having millions. shakes cain get off my lawn you young person you.

It’s at 64k

Online counters have always been inaccurate to one degree or another.

> I just hope the population doesn’t get too low to the point that we start seeing less playlists.

Less playlists? You mean even LESS than what we already have? Wow. Wouldn’t that suck. I’m quite positive the decrease in population is due to the lack of playlists in War Games (MP).

  • Lack of objective game types in BTB. Seriously? Every other HALO game had BTB objective. BTB Slayer gets really repetitive and tedious. I’m bored already.

  • Lack of FFA Slayer. Instead we get Regicide which is the WORST game type in the history of HALO. They are adding objective this week but still no slayer. And KOTH + ODDBALL + FFA = easy kills for newbs who care about their K/D. Nobody is going to play objective. Nobody. Instead you’ll have guys with 30+ kills and almost no deaths. No point.

  • Team Snipers: added for a week and now they’re talking it out. Why? What is the point of removing this? Just the other day I saw 20K+ in this playlist. So no way it’s because of lack of popularity.

  • Flood. This game type is broken in so many ways. Fix it.

  • WHERE IS MY GRIFBALL?

  • Rocket Race?

  • Multi-Team?

  • Team Doubles?

Common, 343. Stop adding and removing things from the damn playlists and let us play. With all the game types included. I really do feel like we’re playing a beta right now. They should have run these tests before the game came out, not during. It’s not cool to constantly remove and add new playlists each week. It makes the online experience inconsistent and confusing for all those casual gamers you clearly are trying to cater to with HALO 4. Just stop. Give us competitive guys what we want, and add all the fun game types that the casual players can enjoy also.

Last I checked, this was a global game on a global service. To say the east coast players of North America are the primary “intended audience” is disingenuous. I understand the point you’re trying to make (I’m in Virginia Beach, myself, so yeah), but a quick check of players on X360 BO2 shows 5x the number of players on H4.

Apparently people do play at 2:15AM Eastern Time. They’re just not playing Halo 4. Which is the OP’s point, precisely.

Should have been there for halo 2 release week. About every game for the next 5 months had a cheater/standby/ghosting/moding/booster/deranker/glitcher/etc.

Should have killed the game. Any new gen game would have died way before that.

and yet it only takes me 1-2 mins constantly all night long to find a match, almost always new players. Funny.
