Online Splitscreen Feedback - Halo Infinite

I’m undoubtedly in the minority here, as I’m someone who almost exclusively plays online in splitscreen mode with friends. (mostly 2 player and occasionally 3 -4 player) With that said here are a few observations and comment I’ve come up with for splitscreen functionality so far.

1). Display issues in splitscreen gameplay.

It is very difficult to read the menus and HUD elements when playing split screen (player tags, objective info, etc.). I’m not sure what the issue is here, everything feels shrunken and stretched. I’ve never had this issue with any past Halo games, and frequently play online splitscreen in MCC without issue. It may be helpful to note that in Halo 3 and Reach for example I never feel penalized for playing in split screen, from a usability/visibility perspective aside from draw distance, while in Infinite it is a distinctly more difficult experience.

2). Not allowed to use guest account.

This a pretty annoying design decision as I frequently use it in MCC when playing with people who dont have xbox accounts of their own. Seems like this probably has to do with the battle pass somehow. Maybe 343 could just disable battle pass progression for guest accounts if that is the hangup.

3). No 4 player BTB.

This one is quite disappointing honestly as playing this way has always been a blast in past titles. I find it hard to believe that it’s technically not possible, as all of the Bungie games managed to do so well enough on the 360 even in the largest maps. Maybe this could be released exclusively for the new gen consoles or something.

4). Main menu navigation

Main menu navigation seems cumbersome with multiple controllers attached with each player having to (take control) of the entire interface. I’m guessing this again is related to the battlepass.

With all that said I am extremely happy that splitscreen has returned at all - as that omission made Halo 5 doa for me. Overall it works pretty well, but there is room for improvement.

Hopefully 343 sees this post or another with similar concerns.

I agree with the first point. The other three are not a big concern for me, but this Thanksgiving I gave up my bedroom for some guests, which has my computer in there. My brother and I wound up discovering splitscreen for Halo Infinite for console. Oh, the nostalgia we had! Way to go 343 Industries; great call on that move!! While we were able to totally rock online for many games, the UI elements are definitely not adjusted for splitscreen. Reading the scoreboard is useless due to the tiny font and the radar is too small to read effectively. Again, the splitscreen is a great call and has a great start, but at least the UI elements should be scaled accordingly.

yeah I feel like split-screen was not very well designed. The fact that I also can’t play 4-player split screen on Xbox One means no LAN parties for this game which is a big disappointment.

I’m just happy it’s in the game at this point. Stability was probably the main reason it was axed from 5.

Still glad it’s in, but yeah doesn’t make sense especially on the series x to be limited to 2 player btb. Also having guest accounts able to play split-screen should most definitely be implemented, a lot more people would use it as not everyone has an Xbox account.

Might be to prevent guest smurfing, but if they just disable guests in Ranked, it should be fine in casual modes
