Online Forge

Why is forge exclusively online? I love the new forge, but my 17 year old sister sits on splatoon all day every day, which messes with my online stuff since either the Wii U or Splatoon uses so much bandwidth. This led me to the question of, why does it even need to be online? All other halos with forge have offline forge.

In Halo 5 all multiplayer modes need to be connected to Xbox LIVE to take advantage of the “dedicated” servers. Forge is considered a multiplayer mode, so it has to be online to function. At least that is my understanding, more and more games require an internet connection to work these days.

I just don’t see why it needs to be. If you can play it singleplayer it isn’t just multiplayer. The campaign can be played online, and offline. Online only forge is unnecessary.

Internet connections need to only be referred to multiplayer aspects only like matchmaking and whatever else. Forge isnt needed to be a online only feature because it takes away from a lot of the fun

completely agree, the only reason to forge online is to make maps with people who know what there doing if you don’t or something to the like. Why not have forge locally

I’m not sure of your internet situation, so this might not work, but I know on my end I have a roommate who is also a heavy online user as well, and I have my Xbox hardlined into my router while his Wii U is WiFi. Neither of us have any problems.

I originally shared this complaint as well, but I read in another post where someone pointed out that the reason why Forge is online is probably so that it can handle all of the heavy-duty rendering options that are now available to us. By loading it up on a dedicated server, it gives the engine all the necessary breathing room to do all it can do. Not sure how accurate or not it is, and I still wish there was some kind of offline mode, but if that’s the case I’m fine with Forge being online.
