Online Coop Campain not working

My friend and I have ran into the issue for the past 3-4 months of not being able to play Co-op campaign for the Master Chief Collection. I have contacted Microsoft support with the thought that maybe there was a issue on that end. However, after running through the troubleshooting list multiple times on both mine and my friends side we have yet been able to even get into any campaign mission. What we normally experience is the loading screen will reach a sliver before completion and the game will lock up on one of our ends and kick the other person to the xbox or halo MCC home screen. Is there any way to fix this issue?

Same issue here. Apparently this has been an issue for some people for years, and it’s haven’t been addressed. Kind of sad that nothing has happened to fix it in all that time

Depends on your networking configuration and environment. Are both consoles wired or wireless to the main host router.
Using a main host router or modem/router combination at each house?
How is the router configured for gaming?
Have you reset both consoles and or the game and try again?

Is MCC the only game that presents this problem.

I’ve been playing Co-Op MCC fine. Only one issue I found is that one of my network Gb switches only seemed to allow 100mb port connections with one of my consoles. We could not start a Co-Op game for some reason in this condition. When I switched LAN ports on this switch, I got 1000Mb speed on the port and then we were able to connect and play Co-Op Games. Seen odd issues with consoles and some networking HW.

Other than this. Played H1, H3 with two consoles, did H3, ODST and H4 speed runs with 3 players, one being out side of my network. Just did a few more Co-Ops on H3 and H4. Got the Soccer ball on H2 with two players last week. A few Co-Op achievements on ODST.

Co-Op is working on MCC.

Not entirely. I can do co-op on MCC for Halo CE, 3, and 4, but a lot of missions on H2 fail to load with OPs same symptematic problems. There’s definitely an issue with it, but certain network configurations just exacerbate the problem more than it typically does.

I haven’t tried co-op in MCC for quite some time. Ill try fairly soon and let you know if there’s any issues

Ya saw some issues with H2 however, one way we helped fix some of Co-Op issues is to have both players set up and configure the same game and skulls and difficulty, then enter the game in single player. Once in, back out then join up and try the Co-Op game again. Most of the time this helped when encountering this issue.

Ya, many networking configurations will and do impact how these games play online.
Users should be aware of one this:

Mostly for same game played with two or more consoles on same network, however theres good info on NAT and how to maintain single NAT for any gaming configurations.

After doing a bit more testing my friend and I were able to launch a Halo 3 campaign. The halo 2 campaign as of right now will not load for us. One thing we have considered trying is both reinstalling MMC to try and fix the issue. I have had to do this before for facing the same issue in single player for a similar issue bit I do not think it will fix our problem. This is the only game that we have had this much issues trying to play. Thanks you all for your suggestions to try and fix the problem I appreciate the assistance.

One thing I noticed is i can host every h2 mission except 2 of them or it crashes. However if my buddy hosts those 2 missions it loads. Try letting your friend host and see if that helps.

One of the theories I heard after years of not being able to play co op, is that H2 remastered is too much for two people to load unless everything is perfect. It’s quite a shame this company threw out mcc and left it. But I’ll buy mostly anything halo because for years I’ve been grasping onto the nostalgia. And every now and I again, I need to take a bump of the -Yoink!- and I put in either halo 5 which I dread or mcc which makes me incredibly sad.

Halo 2 does have an issue starting the campaign. Even on single player I couldn’t load it a few times but I finally managed to get it to load. Try a different level if you haven’t already and change graphics to original (not sure if it stays original or if you can pick it to start that way) and see if you can get something going. After it finally fixed itself me and my friend played coop as well. Trial and error just try different things on single player and when it works there you should be good.

If your doing co op locally and your friend is signing in as a guest under your name it’s a new glitch that started happening in October 2017. 343 is aware of this issue and will be part of the fix for the MCC.

Lol this game is never working the way it should.

Co-Op is working for me and my 2nd xbox. Also have done 3 speeds runs with another from another state. All worked well. Still is.

I ran into a problem recently too.

Originally when the MCC came out 2 friends and I fired up Halo 3 on legendary, worked fine, played only 2 levels though.

Recently though, my friends and I tried playing some co-op together as well (since we couldn’t find a multiplayer game but didn’t want to not play MCC) but ran into a weird problem. We were all in the same lobby, set everything up, went through the count down together, loaded and watched the cutscene, after it though one of my friends were absent but he said he was still in the game. After some communication we realized myself and one friend where in the game as master chief and arbiter and my other friend was in the same level but by himself. How can a game that was designed, launched and ported to have 4 play co-op end up loading up a private game for one of the co-op players, who wasn’t even the party leader??

Of course we joked about how we all joined a co-op game and the MCC decided the best way to run a 3 player campaign was to launch 1 2 player co-op game and 1 single player game at the same time like some ghetto rigged compromise but that isn’t even the icing on the cake. My one single player exiled friend didn’t want to play alone, understandable, so he quit his session but it through me and my other friend in the co-op game into a black screen and it ended the game. Like, WTF? I never seen something like that… I really hope ever MCC player wasn’t booted some how because one of my friends decided to quit his singleplayer game lol

I know that didn’t happen but its amazing how so many people encounter so many unique problems…

One thing we noticed is that we can get to the loading screen and sometimes either the game will not finish loading or one console will get a black screen while the other one says lost connection. There are some odd behaviors with MCC. Also noticed that the 2nd console had a profile that was appearing OFFLINE. We couldn’t get into the lobby together. Soon and he changed to being ONLINE. we were able to get in the lobby together.

One thing we notice, specially with H2, each console should load the same map and additional features everyone wants to play, enter the game on single mode, then exit. Join up in the lobby and whom ever is the leader, start the Co-Op game then all should be fine. H2 only seem to exhibit this here and there.

My roommate and I have the same problem. We’re on the same wired connection. It’s a shame 343 won’t let us use our nice new 4K TVs full screen and have to do split screen.

It happened to me and my friend so much that we stopped trying to play anymore co-op campaign. Hopefully they fix it.

Online co-op doesn’t work well in MCC. If other games work fine for you, then MCC is for sure the culprit. Just gotta hope the update this year fixes these issues so people can enjoy the game without having to worry about the systems that make it work.

only H2 seems to have a problem with co-op campaign. I recommend both players configure same map and game settings. Enter the game map on solo. After cut scene, back out then join up and then try Co-Op. If it doesn’t work, switch player host then try again.
