Hey. I noticed extra shielding on 1-2 players in Castle Wars (playing since '01, not overshield). Two sword lunges, survives Spartan strikes and charges, nearby grenades…Anyone?

I’m not really sure what your insinuating here, but if you’re trying to suggest they were modding or cheating I highly doubt it. If you have actual proof of this kind of stuff happening I’m sure 343 would love to check it out, but otherwise there’s not much that can be done.

Are you referring to sword clashing? That’s the only thing I can think of that might explain why an enemy spartan without an overshield would need multiple stabs to be corpsified in Castle Wars.

I’ve played a lot of Castle Wars, and I haven’t ever run into a situation where I thought an enemy Spartan had better default shielding than me.

I honestly don’t know what your talking about. I just played a few matches and it was all fine no problems what so ever. Could just be lag it usually is

In Halo 5, two opposing players with Energy Swords can parry blows up to 4 times (before killing each other at the same time) without the aid of Overshields.

  1. Not cheating. I don’t argue over players at this point.
    It is as if a white glowing web like the GoW emulsion effect, as opposed to the green; overshield. Protects similarly to direct unblocked strikes.
  2. Also, I can be well out of the way of a clash by reverse boosting (range = red reticle) by my screen comparison (no red on them). I’ve tested this by aiming during a clash…They can still lunge? Long distance leap to kill?
    …Maybe I’m wrong, but I was always under the impression that if a lunging or tracking weapon is not red, it cannot perform such roles; non-locked rockets/hydra, swords/hammer, etc…At/Beyond distance by a factor of 2 Warthogs?
  3. I’ve been playing Castles, Super Fiesta and occasional Infection over the last month for the first time since release. I’m new to many of the changes, especially in “locked” melee combat.
    Me and an opponent sword clashing?
    Yes. I figured that out already. Used to just move sideways opposite the swing (H2-3). Three clashes, me with full shield, I have won 0% of these battles, dying while we both make the same sound as blocking on my end…so…both blocking. I died alone? It’s like the GoW gnasher.
    Same distance. Same weapon. Same strike time/place (hence block…early/late=death). Same frequency (1, 2, 3)…Both dead? No. I really don’t get it.
    A 3lb rock to your head from 6ft is a 3lb rock to your head from 6ft. A standard sPNKR bullseye is the same as another. Maybe with fewer weapons and features from 1-3 and Reach things have changed in each weapon dynamic. The over complexity is as ridiculous to me as Titanfall to Titanfall 2. But 1should always equal 1 without exception. Two melee with a hammer at point blank, one with a lower shield or not, it’s a gravity hammer. Double death would be the only acceptable option. 1 lives here for some reason.

To be clear. It says recruit by my name. I’m a level 70, usually across Warzone Firefight (Heroic) and Warzone Assault. Last month got me from 62 over Social. I’m a 2001 Halo starter so I’m only new to dynamics like these. I don’t to come off as whiny. I just couldn’t find answers elsewhere so it gets frustrating; each gametype doesn’t have a COMPLETE readout on what is involved…I enjoy references.
