Its still basically impossible to get an Oni wasp from a gold pack still. Only people who get the update pack recently can get it now, when will 343 fix it?
(Edit) I’m somewhat basing this off of LukeTheNotable’s video in which he states its a .007% chance of getting an oni wasp.
He states that 343 would make a patch to this, making it more common, but they still have not patched it.

I haven’t seen nor heard about an update pack.
However, it’s not just the ONI that’s bugged. the Hannibal is as well.

(At least, that’s where you can still use your reqs and get a decent chunk of XP/RP. Opening packs still has its uses, unless you have a mass stockpile of every single req in the game.)
I think the Phaetons need fixin’ too
The odds of even an ordinary Wasp dropping are extremely low if you have all the certifications. I wish 343i would do something about that; I can spend 100,000 REQ points on Gold Packs and not get a single Wasp.

I have an idea! <strong>points at microtransactions</strong> Let’s get 343 to give us a Wasp REQ pack where you get wasps, ONI wasps and Hannibal wasps only so everyone can stock up on wasps and 343 will be more rich as you buy more wasp packs.
I got a Hannibal wasp yesterday after about 50 gold packs opened (republican credits used). No Oni’s.

It’s all speculation… I just opened a pack and it had a Hannibal wasp. Yeah they are rare to get but since most really want them they zero in on it and if they don’t get it they rage online. It goes for any req you really want. I say the same thing about Hannibal mantis.
I opened 60 gold packs last night. I got 1 Wasp, 1 Oni Wasp and 0 Hannibal Wasps.
They need to fix the gun on it too, the bullets move so slowly.
I’ve gotten a few of each since my initial certification. They are available in the req pool, perhaps some helpful soul will do the math to determine the likelihood of actually getting them in a gold pack if you have all the certifications?

Luke TheNotable did a pretty good video recently where he covers the “real” rarity of REQ items. In the video he compares the drop rate of the ONI Wasp, among other things, to other REQs from a pool of 175 Gold packs. It’s not a perfect test, but it does give a good indication of the drop rate of most items. His results seem to be pretty consistent with the results I tend to get from Gold packs, so I don’t think it’s just a fluke. He only managed to get 1 ONI Wasp out of 175 packs, which he calculated was a drop rate of .007%. He mentions an “update” in the video regarding the Wasp, but I still don’t notice a difference, so I have no idea if this has been implemented by 343.
opened roughly 50 or so packs yesterday, got 10 regular wasps, 5 oni and 5 hannibal. on top of that 13 phaetons and 3 phaeton helios. luckiest day ever.
Yeah, this goes for pretty much all Wasps. I get stuff like Halo 1 Pistols more often than I get basic wasps. And I’ve never ever gotten an ONI Wasp in a pack…
Somehow, I got lucky and opened 4 Hannibal Wasps on the first day of the update coming out, but I’m assuming that was more blind luck than anything.
Well OP, i did just get an ONI wasp from a gold pack… So i doubt it’s broken. The OG Wasp sure took alot of packs as well.
The odds are very low you will get what you want. I have gotten all three types in packs so it is not broken.

It’s not bugged, they are rare for a reason. Just like every legendary vehicle, since getting the cert for Hannibal about 2 months ago now, not had another…
I wish there was an ‘ultra’ req pack for 20K RP that only contained legendaries
Just because you are not getting them as much as you “think” you should doesn’t mean it is bugged…welcome to RNG…better start praying to RNGesus😂
