REAP-X (Reverse Engineering and Prototyping–Xenotechnology) is an Office of Naval Intelligence department that develops UNSC vehicles based on forerunner and covenant technology. It has grown a lot since the end of the war and now has an unlimited budget and is producing many new technologies for SPECOPS (special operations).
Here are some vehicles, the first is from the last Halo Bulletin:
So, given that 343 has created this branch recently and is still developing new toys, do you think we will see these vehicles in halo xbox one?
I do, although I (like many others) still hope in the return of classic vehicles (hornet) and perhaps Halo Wars vehicles.

Firstly, welcome back from your suspension (its a bit late, but i copped it round the same time you did), secondly, yes thats true, but i don’t really see the Mammoth as an accurate counterpart to the scarab. The vehicle in the link is much more satisfying in appearance. And if ONI became a faction on its own (unlikely, though i remain hopeful nonetheless), this would be awesome. Problem is, you won’t be able to drive it
I really like the Siege bike. After the brute chopper was removed from the game, this vehicle would make an excellent replacement in a later Halo game.
The Light Assault VTOL looks to me like it would play very similarly to the Hornet, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this vehicle were to act as a successor to the much-loved aircraft.
As for this new Scarab-like vehicle, I feel like it is the size of a Locust rather than a scarab and so would possibly work as a multiplayer matchmaking vehicle. It appears to have two chain guns rather than the scarab/locust’s super-vaporizing-lazer-of-mass-destruction so it wouldn’t be as powerful as those in my opinion. I’d actually love to see this on the Halo battlefield in future!
If ONI Reap-X do feature in the next game, I feel like the ‘sneak peak’ concept art that was revealed earlier this month could be an ONI Reap-X site. If you look at the structure on the right of the image, it looks a lot like the re-purposed or unfinished shell of a Covenant cruiser.

Reap-x develops stuff for special operations, so it’s more probable to get them as equipment for a particular mission, but there are also other in game opportunities, like Infinity that should have some.
If ONI becomes a faction (which i think is improbable) I still don’t see ONI doctors, civilians, scientists, officers, spies, spooks on a reap-x locust. It’s stuff for (special) soldiers.
I can’t say I like the visual design of any of these REAP-X vehicles. They don’t fit the distinctive human/functional look of any other UNSC vehicle seen in Halo games. If they want to put a walker in Halo 5, they should give us the Locust, not the UNSC Quad Walker. If they want to give us a VTOL, give us the Hornet, not this thing.
Honestly, 343i’s design for the new Halo trilogy seems to be all over the place. I’m all for new, interesting vehicles, but at least make them fit with the pre-established universe.

I agree that they don’t look visually fitting like they are now, but O’Connor said they exist (in canon) with a different look, less toy. I can imagine them cool in a concept art for the game.
It’s very correct that they don’t have the usual functional style, but also halopedia says that ONI has a different aesthetic from the utilitarian/militaristic approach that is characteristic of UNSC.
It’s pretty unlikely that we’ll see REAP-X vehicles appear anywhere besides Mega Bloks toys. As far as I can tell none of the sets use exclusive molds, which would likely be the case if these were being based off of a vehicle made by 343i. They’re probably created by Mega Bloks designers, and 343i helps them with the lore side of things.

> The REAP-X program itself is part of the Halo canon, but the “shape” of the Mega Bloks universe allows us some latitude in design and variance. All of the vehicles are being designed in collaboration with 343 Industries and you will see these new ONI and UNSC vehicles (or variants of existing vehicles) coming to stores this fall.

ONI does have there own spartan IV’s Hint, hint. Nudge, nudge
> So what exactly is the point of the Quad Walker when we have the Mantis?
Bingo bango jingo jango.
Not to mention that it looks ugly as all get out. Methinks that perhaps the guys at MegaBlocks were given free reign to create whatever they want and they made this. It screams of generic SciFi and doesn’t have a single UNSC feel to it at all.
> So what exactly is the point of the Quad Walker when we have the Mantis?
What’s the point of a Mantis when you’ve got a Wolverine?
As for the OP, I hope not. The stuff that’s come out under the REAP-X line strikes me more as “GI JOE” than “Halo”. I’d rather see the Brute Chopper, Hornet and Locust in place of the Siege Bike, VTOL, and Quad Walker.
> So what exactly is the point of the Quad Walker when we have the Mantis?
While you’re at it, what’s the point of the Mantis?
Up til now every vehicle in the franchise made sense. Cyclops made sense. Mantis does not. Quad Walker makes even less sense. I can’t even see the Covenant using one.
Please, 343i! Do not continue down the path of putting stuff in the game because it would be cool. I defy you to find a military leader anywhere on this or any other planet that would want a Quad Walker (unless he’s six years old).
I don’t know if Bungie consulted military experts, but it sure seems like they did.
Seeing these things in a game would make no sense canonically as all REAP-X vehicles are merely prototypes and concepts not actual military equipment. A lot like concept cars in car shows, they are an example of new technology but you never actually see them on the road.

The Mantis makes so much more sense than the Cyclops as a military vehicle, as a vehicle in general actually. It’s much more mobile than the Cyclops, can function over a larger variety of terrains, has weapons, much less of a target, and is still be used for construction and lifting purposes. How exactly does the Mantis not make sense, but the Cyclops does?
The Quad Walker is a Mega Bloks creation, not 343i.

I’d say that the Mammoth is a perfect counter part to the Scarab.
They’re both huge, pack an unbelievable amount of fire power and can carry large numbers of troops.
Anyways like it’s already been said. The size of the Quad walker is much closer to what we would see in a Locust, mantis or Cyclops.
And why would ONI being it’s own faction be unlikely? Sure they need infantry but aren’t those Black armored marines supposed to be their private troops? And it’d really go along way to show that ONI is the human equivalent of the Builders. It’d be just like when Builder security started up.
They don’t even have to be necessarily against the UNSC either. Think of them like the Butes to the Covenant. They had their own unique arsenal of vehicles and weapons but were still on the Covenant’s side.
ONI wouldn’t be fighting the UNSC. They’d just have their own arsenal to fulfill their own objectives.
Edit: Hey! I just realized. ONI can even take Spartans and make them work for ONI. It’d be like how Builder security was made up of old Promethean warriors! This just makes sense!

Spartan is an own branch, although it is true that many of them are under ONI control. So you think we will see the ONI faction, but because we can’t kill civilians, doctors and scientists, we will just kill other spartans? Madness in my opinion…
